Supercharger Delete - HELP

Well I was contemplating going twin charge but am conidering whether to just cut to the chase and get rid of the M45.

What is involved with this?

Can someone help me with a small parts list and maybe an idea of what work to be done.

Thanks

Seann

Ryan has done it

Spillman has done it. The Fireballed guys have done it. All of them would be a good source of information......

If you want to get rid of the M45, your options are going turbo only, or getting the M62.

For turbo only you might want to get in touch with one of the members who have done this, Tuls from Fireballed Racing comes to mind.

If you are interested in going with an M62, you are going to need to give us (Helix) and the other companies that are currently working on a kit (M7 etc.) time to work out any bugs that might pop up. You wouldn't want to spend the money for an M62 and then have it not live up to its potential.

If you plan on going turbo only, you will need to fabricate all your piping as there is nothing commercially available at this time. You can buy an Exhaust manifold and downpipe from Hubie, but then you will need to fab up your intake to the Throttle body & you will need to fab up piping to connect the Throttle body to the intake manifold, as you lose this when you remove the intake horns from the supercharger. You will also need to fab up your own FMIC and piping for this as well.

When removing the M45 you will need to replace the H2O pump with an electric one as the orginal is driving off the M45 and not directly off the crank.

You will need to pick a turbo that will meet your needs depending on how you want your power delivery. You will need to route 2 coolant lines to the turbo & an oil feed line and return to the oil pan, so you will need the neccessary hoses to complete this.

Its not bad, but you will need some fab skills. You can always mock up the piping crudely with a mig and then take the mock up to a bender and have them make a duplicate on a Mandrel bender. That is my plan at least.

This is a rough draft of just the basics, as you need to do something with your fuel. You will need to figure out what size injectors you need as well as controlling the Air to fuel ratio. At this time the only real viable way is with an Apexi AFC.

mant autos out there use belt driven water pumps . is it convenience? why not just block off the intake ports to the i/c horn etc. and use the existing pump? if it's parasitic drag then it's an option not necessity.
