if you mean speed, uh ya.. 20 over = daily

if you mean 20% reduction, ya.. kinda.. i know several people running 19% + 2 or 3% crank pullies.

if you mean something else, no clue

Well this is the one that'll keep us from getting locked so its the one I'm betting on. I think Rick was over 20 for a while, thats the only one that comes to mind right now I'm sure there are others.

I'm guessing he's talking about overboring the cylinders by .020" and using larger pistons.

I'm not certain the MINI engine can handle this. It can, however, be stroked according to someone who's done it.

Yeah he is refering to boring it .020" over. And I have not heard of anyone doing this. I dont think there is enough meat on the block to do this. Although stroking the engine could be done, that would be a fun route to explore. I wonder if it could be stroked to a 1.9L or 2.0L.

I believe "that devil red car" has done a stroker.

ahh now we're into it . i was told here that a stroker for the mini was impossible. i've also read that .020 overbore is doable. go figure. i know wiseco or mania sell .005 over rings but no mention of .020 over. just wondering who's gone there.

Overboring solely as a means to increase displacement is generally a waste of time. You should only overbore as much as you need to in order to clean up the cylinder walls while doing a re-build.

While stroking a 1.6L engine will let you significantly increase displacement, overboring might get you a few dozen cc's at most. And what do you do when you get cylinder wear after you're already at the maximum overbore? You have to re-sleeve the cylinders, and that's not cheap.

Here's a silly question: doesn't stroking the engine increase the compression ratio? And, how much compression would be healthy for a sc car running 12-15 psi?

yeah it would bump it up . but yuo could run shorter rods(you'd prob. have to ) i think ideally the end result would be more c.c.'s . you could work it to stay the same on compression i'll bet.

You can stroke but unless there is a stroker kit available don't bother. Too many things to think about if you want to match all the components & compression. Good idea, none the less...
