Excellent carbonized!! This is what we need. I like the work you've done to shape the scoop--very agressive indeed. Will you be cuttting the circular hole in the RHS of the DF scoop to line up with the new airbox tube?
I am going the airbox diverter over the top route, as I find the stock airbox tube you're splicing into circuitous. Of course, more pressure will help the airflow down that tube anyway. My measurements suggest that my new direct airbox diverter will be about 1" tall, 4" wide and 12" long. It has to go up and over the IC horn on the RHS of the IC and then down into the airbox before hitting the bonnet bracing. I'm going to try not to cut the bonnet, but will have to cut the Alta CAI airbox, of course.
Anyway, kudos on the scoop work!

cheers,

Glad you like it It was one of those inspirational time when I saw the intake tube throught the gaping hole on the picture, i couldn'd resist to moke up some thing for the hell of it. Yes the tube would poke throught the left side of the DF scoop, it would likely be more like a rounded triangle opening, and of course, as soon as somebody can tell me what is all that crap on the intake tube, and that'its OK to cut off,and seal, I could very well see more FRESH air going through there .Beauty of it is: use what's alwrady there .efficient?

obehave: you covered them up, why not cut them off? I cut the noise suppressor and moisture collector tubes off the airbox duct months ago. No worries since and it's all patched up CF sweat!
cheers,

cheers,

It was quick and easy and accomplished the same thing.

The end results was there was no measureable difference with the extrusions blocked off.

I actually have other "secret" plans that I just haven't gotten around to.
I'm getting ready to finally add a garage to my house. I can then tinker at will.

Maybe

If the wife lets me

I asked this question in the marketplace, but it seems like I might as well ask it here too. I want the M7 Ram Intake in CF, but at the moment M7 is not making them due to CF shortages and none of the distributors have any (they all seemed to be special orders). This may change one day or it may not. Who knows? So, for all you big spenders out there who have a garage full of scoops and the M7 Ram Intake in CF is one of the ones not on the car now (as in you went with something even more extreme or went to the DFIC or similar), how about selling your just lying around M7 CF to me?

It would be more "definitive" is someone would post a photo of the Uber scoop, and the M7 Extreme scoop. I know they're out there, we just need them here for a complete list.

DrPhil, very nice work! Since you are doing some experimenting with the "spare air" available, do you think it would be beneficial to route some of that air under the DFIC? I ask because with m7's new thermal blanket (or any other type of insulation under the DFIC), it seems that some heat is going to get reflected back onto the fuel rail area, and that can't be good (at least in my mind).
If this is old news, my apologies; I'm kinda new to the IC thing.

There's plenty of areas for the heat to escape, to the side and even in the back of the M7 Aerogel heatshield. The difference in heat emission from the engine is amazing with and without this product. As for hot I'm sure you realize that the fuelrail is bolted to the engine at it's hotter points making the fuel rail smoking hot as it is, with no adverse issues. And for comparison, many modern engines are fully encapsulated with plastic covers with absolutly no airflow in the engine compartment.
