question

what's the sludge under my throttlebody butterfly? the hose going there is from the gas tank vapor lines yes? so why then does this crap look like oil? above the butterfly is perfectly clean. if it's fuel omfg . the bottom of the plastic hose under the throttlebody was filthy too. but the car does have 65000 mls.

That's oil residue from the valve cover vent that enters just above the TB.

as obehave said its crankcase ventilation. There are two hoses, one that runs from the left hand side of the crankcase to the SC inlet plenum, and the one on the right of the crankcase goes to the hose that runs from the airbox to throttle body. This is the one that is causing the sludge on your car.

Carb cleaner is good to get the sludge off. Then put an OCC on that line....

Not sure but the butterfly may be coated (as with other cars) and a harsh chemical can remove the coating.

yeah it looks like oil and i figured as you all did that it must be crankcase venting but it's puzzling cause above the butterfly is super clean so this must be hitting the back of the valve as the throttle is shut ;then settling on the pipe and throttlebody?
