Alta Intercooler, sound increase?

hey i just picked up my Mini about a month and a half ago, and im really looking for that supercharger whine. I already picked up the M7 exhaust, Ultrik Intake and some small bolt-ons, but would the Alta Intercooler w/ the Air Diverter (and water spray) make my supercharger whine louder

im kind of shooting for this

No, it won't make it louder.

That extremely loud whine is due to a water to air intercooler.

its a front mount intercooler by WM, it had a lot of complications and a lot of problems i heard and it wasnt worth the trouble so it never really hit production. if you look it up on google/yahoo images you can see the design

what will increase the sound of the supercharger then?

Sorry for the bad diagnosis, but I thought I already saw that same clip in a different thread and they said it was Randy Webb's front mount water to air IC.

The ultimate recipe for supercharger whine; close the pressure relief ports, add 19% reduction pulley, and wrap with Gatorback belt.

From what I have read (I haven't installed yet); pulley and the M7 Air Gain System (AGS). Other aftermarket intakes will increase the sound also, some outside the car and some inside the car. Do a search on AGS sound there are some sound clips out there also.

What worked for me: Alta CAI without the lid, remove hoodliner, add 17%.

Spin as fast a possible.

I don't think the 62 will do anything with the whines?

Just get an AGS.. it sounds pretty similar.

That front mounted intercooler sucks. The sound it makes sucks too. (Yes it makes the sc way louder).

Billsman, wms 15% pulley and any good intake will make your car sound very nice indeed, thats all you need if sound is what you are looking for.

Check out Webb Motorsports they have good stuff, and if you in the market for an intake, wait for theirs, it should be out any day now.

If you just want sound...

go to the Gatorback belt (as K-Huevo mentioned). Get a HAI. Done. If you want power, it's a different game.

That I went out and bought a Napa because my wife (and I) didn't like the whine.... I have one I'll let you have for postage if you want to try it out!

I don't have the tool's to do it...but I'll think about it. Right now I'm short of money, but I'll let you know. Do you have the part #? And what does the whine sound like with the Gatorback? Is it more high pitched, or actually louder?

Doctor O, if Cody doesn't want it, I'll buy it from you. I'm about to have a pulley installed. I have a NAPA belt, but would like some more noise from the gatorback.

Thank you.
