DDMWorks cold air intake

I got my DDMWorks cold air intake installed this weekend on my MINI. The fit is perfect, and up close it looks even better than pictured. It's a nice quality piece and the UNI filter has the most surface area I've seen for aftermarket intakes. Best part is the sound, on light throttle it sounds stock, even with the windows & top down, and full throttle it really amplifies the supercharger whine. At highway speeds ther's no difference in sound. There's no 'whoosh' intake sound that I've heard from other intakes, it's very docile. I also swapped my S lites for some 15" OZ Ultras the same day so it's hard to comment on any change in throttle response other than to say it's much better. I've also got an automatic and the install was no problem. And the stock hose fits fine. I'm not gonna brag that mine's better n' yours, or speculate if I added any horsepower. I just know from experience that superchargers don't like heat saturation, and this intake is the best solution I've seen. Everything fits, the battery terminals mounted properly and don't flop around or shake, and cutout for the harness pass through has nice rubber edging so nothing rubs wrong. It's a well thought out piece.

I couldn't agree more. I also installed my DDMWorks intake this weekend, swapping out my alta. Fit and finish is superb, looks much better in person than pics, and fits with my M7 STB no problem at all. Noise levels are fine, no whistle that I've noticed, and it just dropped in like a glove. Nice work.

I paid $230 direct from ddmworks (www.ddmworks.com), plus a bit for shipping. Sadly, I don't have my digital camera or I'd snap a few pics for you. I'm sure you can search the galleries for some pics. There's a long thread on this subject, a quick search should turn it up.

That's a bad link, you need to edit your post and take out the last ).

Is this the air-box that was designed by Randy Webb? -- Johan

Sorry about that, fixed...

And I'm not getting involved with that next question, just reporting where I got mine. There's a whole ugly thread on that question.

How easy is the install to reverse if the car needs to go to the dealer? Are there any requirements for cuts to be made as part of the install? Or, is it a true plug-and-play install?

One last question about the air filter - is it a use once and replace type? Or, washable re-oil & re-use type?

No mods

There's no permenant changes, just removing enough stuff to replace the OEM airbox. Dave w/ DDM took some digital pics this weekend and should soon have step-by-step directions available. The filter is washable foam (UNI) and should last the life of the car. There was an earlier thread regarding installation and some good pics along with a write-up were posted.

Well, what more can you add to this. It's a fabulous intake. Fit and finish is superb.

Hey Wes, hope to see you at some club meetings.

Search on "Let's all bash Randy Webb"
or "I made it". "No you didn't".

Or just read this

If they supply the button head bolts( like the "other guy" does) you'll be fine.

Plenty of room might be a stretch but you'll probably have more issues with hood clearance than HDI clearance.

I believe Peter is referring to the heat dispersion coating or heat reflecting. Should help with the whole CAI box idea

how much more is the 'super' ceramic coating compared to just a ceramic coating?
