M7 Occ

If you look at other OCC threads, I had expressed my opinion that all vendors overcharge for their OCC (It's just a can that collects oil ). I subsequently embarked on making my own out of PVC which worked great but it did not stand up to the engine bay heat.

I had a credit at M7 and decided what the hell, I need a can. Well I have to tell you all that I was blown away by the M7 OCC. At the end of the day its still just a can but the design, and manufacturing is incredible. The top is held on with 6 screws and has a gasket. The bottom is also held together with 6 screws and has a gasket. It has a Drain plug, side view guage, mounting bracket and of course with all the little necessary clamps hoses, ect......

Can a OCC be worth 100 plus - the answer is yes . I have never seen such an over built "CAN" - KUDOS Peter for incredible fit and finish.

I agree it is a nice can. But, I just used a clear plastic fuel filter plumbed into the PCV line. Accomplishes the same, only cost like 2 bucks.

I believe there are some look alikes on e-bay for 25% of the price. Or maybe they are the same except for the m7 logo.

Not trying to poop, would just rather spend that cash on other stuff.

Never thought I would get this reaction . I posted only because I was a BIG POOPER on the OCC cans that were being offered. My OCC build while it didn't hold up, did give me an OCC education which confirmed that they do trap oil. Since mine didn't hold up, I needed one and I had a M7 credit so I went for it.

Not selling M7 or OCCs (unless Peter talks commission) - just wanted to share that there is more to some of these cans than perhaps website pics illustrate. Wasn't impressed until I held it in my hand.

I'm just happy to have an OCC back on the car.

I'm having a difficult time finding the thread right now, but a while ago, M7 stated that the manufacturer that they contracted the M7 OCC design stole the design. That manufacturer, without any investment in R&D, is able to significantly undercut the current market prices for OCCs.

Someone correct me if my memory serves me incorrectly.

If that's the case, it wouldn't be Ethical to purchase the one from e-bay would it?

To perhaps set the record a little straight there are several significant differences between the $30 plus $ 13.99 SHIPPING ( love that ) EBAY special and our OCC. The biggest one is that the dimensions are not the same. The EBAY can will not fit in one of the most popular OCC locations along side the lower passenger side of the motor. Ours has been designed to fit there with no problems as well as anywhere else that the EBAY can does. The second main difference is we include true automotive grade tubing and hardware where the EBAY can does not . Our package is designed for the mini and the mini only, you do not get a bag of parts and try to figure out what works for your application. Then we can always talk about product support. How is that EBAY help line going to work out for you when it comes time for the install? As a matter of fact just what instructions come with the EBAY can anyway ? Last but certainly not the least is the stylish M7 Logo How can you live with out it ?
There is nothing wrong with getting a deal and being thrifty. It is just that some times the deal isn't really as much of a DEAL as one was led to believe especially when the internet comes into play.

I'm not rich, but I would rather pay M7 $100 for their OCC than $30 for one off ebay.

Yup, and that's why I have one...I bought a $20 can off of ebay and it sucked...and leaked in ALL of the valves! Needless to say I still have it and the guy gave me a $4 refund...lol. So I thought "Screw this, I want a can that works" and that's where the M7 OCC came into play. The style is great! I love it, but hasn't really had time to collect any oil yet!

How would you drain the oil if it's installed there?

all depends were you mount it . In my case / location, I'm only getting 3 hp increase because you can't see the side logo.

Thanks!
