Getting "Crap" from Outmotoring...

Sorry, I couldn't resist. The "Crap" I'll be getting is the JCW Intake (For $250 ) Unfortunately, as soon as I install it it'll be more and more difficult to resist mods

Just felt like sharing

Edit: Sorry, I was half asleep when I posted this. My MAIN reason for sharing was to point out that someone out there was selling the JCW Intake for $250

That is the most expensive 250 you ever spent, just call Aaron with your credit card and empty the shop, it will be less painful that way.

Enjoy!

I DID mention that I was pretty tired when I posted that, right?

Now if only M7 is about a week late on their APD delivery... I MIGHT be able to justify both purchases to the Frau

Edit: There we go, I hope "Crap" leads to less misunderstanding

I was back and forth between Dinan and JCW. But with this sale bringing the 2 within $50 of each other, the JCW won out

Hey mjgmcs1, have you received e-mail confirmation yet? The first time I "Ordered" I got that stupid 3 digit security code on my card wrong so it was declined. Went back and re-ordered, but I still haven't gotten any e-mail

Yeah, thought about it but it was too late last night, and I can't call from work. If I don't get the message by this afternoon I'll call when I get home (Only problem is... I haven't told the Frau that I ordered it yet )

I did not get an email from OutMotoring yet but I went back to their web site and navigated to the cart. My order confirmation is there. Order ID, date, time, everything including shipping. I feel confident my order went thru and am not worrying, except how to explain the box that arrives at my door in a few days to the wife.

Great deal on the JCW intake kit BTW. I have been looking at this for a while and saw a new one sell on ebay for $300 and a used one w/o all the intall parts sell for $100.

Hi guys-
I ordered the JCW intake too, it should be here today (thanks outmotoring!). The next step is getting the ECU flashed so that the "flap" will open at high RPM, right? I was thinking of rigging the flap permanently open, I saw a thread on that the other day.

If I install the intake myself and have the dealer flach the ECU, do you think they will hassle me about the warranty? I know it is a dealer part, but does the dealer have to install it too? Thanks! Jim

The next step

No ECU flash is needed to actuate the flap, just hook up the proper electrical and vacuum connections.

Your next step should be to get the dual-cone K&N-type filter from Mini-Madness.

With the JCW air box the MCS engine does not need any additional air at low RPM - it gets all it can use. Opening the flap permanently will only make more noise all the time, and add more performance none of the time. If you wanted more noise all the time, the JCW is not the right intake.

Dinan has a "Gap" that's always exposed to the cowl area. They include a template that you use to cut away a bit of the partition.

Good comments on installation here:
http://motoringfile.com/2006/02/09/m...ld-air-intake/

Once the supplied paper filter clogs up, replace with one of these: http://www.mini-madness.com/index.as...ROD&ProdID=272

Thanks I've already planned to get a reusable filter but was actually looking at the ITG Foam. Question, since scheduled maintenance is free for the first 36k miles, will they still swap out the JCW Filter at my 24k service?

They will give you one new filter, but it's about 12K miles too late...
