I got Fireballed today!!!

I drove down to Torrance CA today on a whim and had my Mini flashed and all I can say is WOW!!! It is my favorite mod. It really wakes up the car and compliments the 17% pulley, Alta intake and One Ball. It's still weird seeing the car redline at 7500rpm. It was well worth the $300 introductory price for today only. I'm guessing 10 or more cars were flashed today. The guys at Fireballed were very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I can't wait to do the Turbo kit.

The Mini crowd is much friendlier than the Benz members.

Got Fireballed !

I was first one on the block today at the Fireballed ECU day.
After the magic was done, I took it for test drive, (not that I would ever admit to doing anything really fast), and found that I had an immense improvement in throttle response and shifting.

The top rev limiter has been cranked up to around 7700/7800 rpm and the car stays in the power band through the shifts. Very quicky up through the gears and hit 100 in 3rd. Many apologies to the Volvo S50 that really tried to keep up (and failed miserably)

The whole feel of the cars acceleration is a lot smoother, and the slightly leaner mix should also yield better gas mileage, (not to mention the noticeable increase in exhaust 'pops' on deceleration.

All in all, well worth the money, (and much better for the opening day price!).

Next will probably be a new Fireballed Pulley !!

Now I just need some money for some track time (and ... and ... and ...)

Many thanks to Fireball Tim, Flash Master Jason, Brian and the entire crew for a wonderful day at the new facility! I had both of my Works cars flashed. Basically, Jason custom flashed each car and tweaked the maps for the 100 octane racing fuel that I use. Brain test drove the Works Cab and it pulled effortlessly to around 7,700 rpm, easily smoking the tires in second gear. The performance in my coupe was also much improved ... again silky smooth 7,700 rpm red-line .... no flat spots ... pure acceleration. Best money that I ever spent!

Interesting...I got a new Unichip map and it's clearly running leaner, and my exhaust pops have increased dramatically. So now, perhaps the two are related? Why, I ask...

cheers,

i have the VDO ecu... limited production w/ a completely different map. it has to be custom built. it's all good, they have my map and they're going to be working on it. should be ready when they get back from their races. i'll be working on my patience in the mean time...

With the increased rev limit, do the illuminated red bars on the tachometer change?

Brian or Tuls,

Is it possible to change the which red bars are illuminated on the tach with your ECU?

Well, I missed the weekend mass install, but I made it down to the shop yesterday and had my MINI fireballed too. I like the improved throttle response, and I'm going to fill up tonight and see how much difference (if any) it makes to the fuel economy.

Um...no. The chip doesn't actually get removed.
But the MINI soap-on-a-rope that I got DOES!

Can the fireball reflash be peformed on the east coast at another tuner? Do you have to send the ecu in?

Is the reflash custom tuned for each application? Or is it offered in stages?

Its a new release software package for them but I would guess you would need to send in the ECU, there is only one guy that can do it. And yes the RPM limiter and everything else is per application. They do great work, next month I will be getting Head and Cam through Fireballed. I can't wait!

Hey Tuls! How's it hangin'? Looking down the road, do you guys plan on being at MOTD7? If so, will you be offering the flash there? Here's hoping. Hi and hugs to MLE!
