Drivetrain how do i fill this gap?
how do i fill this gap?
i just installed an alta intercooler air diverter and have a concern with it. the directions said to remove the underbonnet flap, which sealed the gap between the back of the air scoop (top of radiator) and the front of the diverter. there's no mention of what to do to re-seal this gap to the new diverter. personally, i feel that this needs to be sealed, but maybe i'm wrong. what do you all think? does anyone have any recommendations on how to seal this space?
im guessing that the rubber grommet on the actual intercooler diverter will make a seal with the hood... try putting some water on the rubber grommet and see if it makes a mark all the way around the hood

If all was installed correctly, and your photo suggests it is so, then the Alta rubber seal should contact the bonnet completely, especially at the back. After a few miles you should start to see some marks on the underside of the bonnet since the engine rocks back and forth under acceleration and deceleration, causing the seal to rub on the bonnet.
These work, btw. A search through old threads will show you how I modified my Alta to get a better seal against the Ram Intake scoop.
cheers,

my concern is the area between the front edge of the diverter and the back of the scoop. (where the radiator hoses are) there's a gap between the lower front edge of the diverter and the bottom, back edge of the scoop. the seals to the underside of the bonnet are ok.
man, that extention is beautiful! i'll pm you later today (i'm at work now). thanks for your time. i guess everyone else who bought this diverter just lives with the gap and lets all that extra air go to waste.
