Hey Bob - I shipped it this afternoon - I'll send you and Dave a tracking number when I get a chance.

Nice gesture on your part.

from what I can tell the OBX is a very nice piece and well made..... even Peter of M7 spoke highly of it..... The Meghan looks good as well.....

clearly this is an area tha I have not paid much attention to.... i have a Milltek.... most expensive... must be the best .... it seems there is a lot of interest here lately.....other than my obvious needs....

I'm also interested in a header but one that is considered relatively quiet compared to a full blown race version. Anyone have actual experience with one?

Oh, I almost forgot. please, thank you, by your leave lord, mother may I ...

Am I picking up from this thread that the Megan header has had quality issues in the past, and may still have, so if a perosn was interested in which header to purchase it would be best to wait and see if SpiderX has better luck with the newer Megan header?

Other wise - the ALTA?

Just trying to figure this out. Maybe fred3 knows?

Hey, I get something out of this too. I drive a Cooper yet I found a way to be more than just a curious bystander. In a real "community" you participate, you don't just spend all your time looking out your windows, spying on your neighbors. At least for a while (since the Megan header will probably be just an interim solution), I get to feel like I'm having a tangible, positive effect on this little project.

Isn't it worth mentioning that a lot of headers have a flange port shape that doesn't appear to be very well suited to the head port shape?

on M2 if i recall correctly.

I've heard an OBX + oneball, and that doesn't sound much louder than stock....

Its just a tad louder and a tad deeper - very subtle but one of the best budget enthusiast mods in my opinion. While I subsequently added the OBX Catback and got lots of sound, I can't say I got more HP/TQ.

This is a great exhaust set-up and if at the end of the day it doesn't do it for you (acoustically) and you decide on a Catback, your out of pocket on the 1-ball (assuming you purchase the 1-ball conversion) is like 65 bucks. 125 for the 1-ball and sold in the market place for 1/2 price.

I had this exact setup on mine for about 2 months. You can tell the header is there, but not much. You get a bit of a rumble, but not much. Noone would ever know it was there unless you were used to driving a MINI. Now, slap some aftermarket pipes on there, and that is a whole different story

Your reference to aftermarket pipes, is that a brand of CAT back? or the header makes any aftermarket pipes / CAT back louder?

also something i've heard often.

milltek by itself is pretty quiet, but slap on some headers and it goes crazy. Which is why i'm quite astounded to find that the headers don't do the same on the stock catback....

BTW, you guys with the OBX header....Especially guys with the OBX header + oneball... Did the headers make the burble/pops go away at all?

When I had this set-up - I found no characteristic changes EXCEPT that it dropped a tone and was a tad louder. I really loved the stealhy quality and lost it when I went to a OBX catback - now they hear me coming!

When I had the OBX on there with the factory pipes, the burble didn't change at all. But with the M7 pipes and OBX header, the burble is MUCH louder and sometimes you even get a nice backfire to top it all off :-)

I like my Madness header. I have it mated up to a Magnaflow catback. I don't think its to loud though. Neighbors know when i am coming home though.

My OBX+One Ball must be different than the others lol. It's significantly louder than stock...maybe it's because I used an aftermarket cat though. I've had so many compliments about how well my car sounds, people always ask what exhaust I have. It's a lot throatier than stock and sounds a lot different than the one-ball with stock header. Oh, and I know some people won't believe it, but get bigger tips, they DO change the sound tone slightly and change how the sound is projected.

I've promised a few people sound clips ever since I've had it...and I PROMISE i'll get them within the week.
