Drivetrain Is this the dreaded Yo-Yo?
Is this the dreaded Yo-Yo?
Ok so i have been trying to figure out what is the issue with the car.
it only happens below 3k rpm and only during acceleration in 1st and 2nd gear. it feels like the gas pedal and clutch are oscilating. The speed of oscilation is approx 8 wobbles per second.
it does this with two different sets of wheels (stock and aftermarket).
there is no oscilation on the freeway or wobble, etc. only 1 and 2 gear and only when initially taking off from a stop.
my mods are in my sig. the car is a 05 with less than 10k on the clock.
whatchu think, a product of lowering the car or a product of a out of tune vgs valve ( i.e. the dreaded yo-yo effect)?
thanks in advance!

Sure sounds like the yo-yo to me. My '03 MCS did it just above 3K rpm until just recently when I had a new larger-flow exhaust (ALTA Sportone) added. Now it is smooooooooth. I feel your pain. You might try the VGS fix to see if it fixes it. Here's the url..

ya i have been kicking around the idea of a new exhaust, but untill i find a nice cond used one ill stay with stock. I really like the sound of the stock exhaust.. especially on the freeway.. nice and quiet
i am considering the vgs mod. seems silly to ahve to do that to a new car, and i would hate to have a hit in my mpg during my daily commute.
