Dinan Exhaust Clips

I have yet to see a posting on this board that has a video clip of the Dinan exhaust for the S. Can anyone post any? Thanks!

I'll be able to post some clips in about 3 weeks when I have the stage1 installed.

I too am curious as to what the Dinan sounds like. For me a loud booming exhaust won't cut it. Yes a bit more sound, but not something that would drive me bonkers driving down the interstate.

I've listened to the Milteck. I'm not convinced it's the one for me. I need to hear the Dinan before I make up my mind.

I finally have the stage 1. I'll try my best to put some sound or video clips on here this weekend.
I think you may like the way it sounds. To me it sounds like a cross between Borla and JCW. No drone at all. It's sweet like butter above 4K rpm.
I have a IMAC so I may need some help from you guys getting the video clips on here.

I would like to help out by providing sound but there is definately a technology gap on this end as to how to provide that audio information! I can say that I was very concerned before getting the DINAN system about an exhaust note that was abrasive and intrusive but that concern did not materialize. Members in our club know this car's sound while on runs but none have complained. I find it a very rich sound in normal driving. When accelerating in the higher RMP, you KNOW that the S2 is different.

I'll also try to get something posted for you.

Ditto comments from BLKDINAN. I was concerned, listened to and tried out many others within our local club and decided on DINAN. I take lots of 200-400 mile trips and never find it annoying when cruising at highway speeds. Get on the throttle and you know its there .

Dinan is a bit quieter than Miltek under 4,000 rpm. 4 and over DINAN is quiet loud, so really depending on your driving style to which one you would prefer.

SLOTKAR and jst4fun I think our comments pretty well sum it up. It is nice to hear from other DINAN users. In this Province there are 4 dealerships but I'm informed that there is only one S1 MINI and only one S2 MINI. The JCW MINIS are more common but still somewhat rare. For those of you who may still be curious, I understand that MC2 has an article comparing JCW and DINAN but I have not seen it yet. This source may provide some more insight into the exhaust note and other differences.

There IS a video clip out there for the DINAN exhaust. I think I downloaded it, so I'll check on my computer at home tonight. The clip is of a CR/W Dinan MCS and the guy is having his girlfriend rev it up for him. Anyone else seen it?

Sorry, couldn't find it. But I remember thinking that it didn't sound much different than other one-ball exhausts.

Quick question for the DInan exhaust owners. Do you find that one side of the exhaust gets dirtier quicker? Quite noticeable in my case. Just want to know if this is common or if I should contact DInan about this. Have had it for about 3 weeks, love the sound but it looks funny. Maybe just have to clean it more often

The left tip looking at it from the back seems to get dirtier that the right. I have had the DINAN exhaust on my car for four weeks. I had the DINAN S1 package put on before I picked up my new MCS on 10/02.

isn't the Dinan just a cut and clamp-on? No way I am going to pay $900 for that... That is why I had the 1 ball done as a cut and weld..adding the oem chrome tips...

I can tell you by experience that it's throaty when you punch it's but quite enough that cops do even bother.

I rode in and drove a car equipped with the Dinan exhaust and intake. For me, it is exactly what I'm looking for with sound. I refuse to have a drone or an annoyingly loud system - I want it to sound like there's something lurking beneath without screaming it out. The Dinan sounds like that. It's throatier than the stock and at a lower pitch. Below 4-4500 rpm, it's pretty quiet. When you hit the gas, you know it's there, but it is not overly loud at all.

mb

Edit - one more detail...it is my estimation that this exhaust would be too quiet for most on this board. I've driven/heard the milltek, and I think the Dinan is quieter.
