hmm...this is a great thread!! I finally sat down and read the whole thing. So now I feel the need to contribute. I really enjoy all of my mods, but if I had to pick a least favorite I would have to say for sure the 180* thermostat. The reason is this...is the winter it takes forever to come up to temp and sometimes never hits operating temp. Then in the summer if it's hot out and I'm in traffic it gets hotter than normal and makes me nervous...BUT when I get going (in the summer) the temps are always right around 180* I later found out that m7 recommends that in colder climates to put the stock thermostat back in. All in all a good mod though! -- Johan

If you don't readjust the rear camber after lowering, you will induce understeer...

I think there are a lot of cool things to do, but in the end if I wasn't driving my car on the track (just street machine) I'd regret:

Milltek header - when combined with the Milltek cat back, it gets pretty loud, no longer the subtle but nice burble.

Bigger throttle body - enough said there

Stoptech/BBK - if you aren't leaving belt marks on your shoulders, I don't think you're getting your $$$ worth out of these.

For that matter, the UNIChip (and maybe all chips, at risk of getting flamed) is a bit suspect too if all you do are the three main suspects (CAI, cat back, and pulley).

However I will say that I sent mine to detroittuned to do a canned map for Milltek system, big throttle, cai, pulleys, and I do get a little more seat of the pants power, but I NEED a custom tune too. Everyone I've talked with that has one with mods at my level report an dozen or ponies and pounds after a custom tune...

My least favorite one is the 62 mm throttle body. I have a MCS with basic performance mods (15% pulley, CAI, MTH, exhaust). The only thing I noticed after the TB was an increased flat spot at low RPMs.

Let's have some fun and list all those stinkers and help some new owners from making similar mistakes.
you've just answered a question i've been trying to figure for a while.see the cars run really rich and when cold naturally they're richer so why when i give it quick throttle off idle does it seem to be getting too much air? well you've added even more air . so there's my answer there's still too much air at first ;or not enough gas but that's it alright. must be really bad though if none of these guys can fix it .

Couldn't agree more. I can't speak to the quality (just don't know anything about the differences between metals and the such), but they didn't look fun to install, huge PITA to adjust when alligning, and raise the ride height significantly. I have my PSS9's on full drop in the front and it doesn't even look like the car is lowered.

For the track I am sure these are a great quality product, but for the street they are just not convenient. Helix here I come...

My least favorite mod was the Alta short shifter. I belive it decreased the throw by about a 1/2" (unnoticeable) and now its a lot harder to shift between gears. I drove a new 2006 JCW last weekend and it felt great. It felt stock compared to my car, but that was a good thing.

MISFITOY, just to clarify, when you listed the VENOM as #1 on your list, you are saying you really love it, correct? Not vice-versa? I think its next on my list along with some 400cc's.

Crap...I'm too lazy to look for my own post LOL...but I'm sure it was in context of good mod but I can't remember how it ended up in this thread...

Nevermind...I got off my *** and looked it up:

"4-Nitrous...Now that I know what the TC boys experience "all the time", I'm getting tempted..."

I now changed my mind to M62...just waitin for the good Doctor to cure my itch...

LED conversions for the front parking lights, full interior and license plate. They blink like Ricers and they blow out too often!

msfit.... you are right! I have been getting some pre temps in the 250 neighborhood lately and I hadnt been able to pinpoint the drastic change. I never suspected doing the VGS was the cause so I figured maybe my water pump (for the water-air intercooler) took a crap or something else had gone bad. Heck, I have been imagining all kinds of bad things. Needless to say, I will lose the VGS today. I sure hope this hasnt hurt anything to drive it for a bit like this, I keep having a bad dream that my supercharger is overheating and locks up on me!!!

I've done the same but I kinda like the blink rate (even with resistors) that matches my lane change pace

If the IC core design creates a large enough presure drop the SC needs to work harder creating more heat? What do you think? Just a thought.
