If you still have the stock cowl heat sheild you can install it With the Alta in place and quiet things down; just something to try before needing to buy a new intake.
I got one installed a couple months ago. It doesn't have the constant woosh/whine that the Alta has at cruising speeds. But, it definitely will make noise when you put your foot down.
