Drivetrain Will there be any MCS gear ratio mods in the future?
Anyone know if shorter gearing (via final drive) will be available any time soon? I gotta ask this b/c I'm sick of the tall stock 1st gear in my MCS. Nothing worse than a Tractor beating you off the line!
just kidding! But seriously, I know we've heard this complaint before about 1st being too tall. But also, I feel like 6th is pretty useless too. For me (and my magnaflow), I like to use 6th on the freeway when I feel like I could use some more drone in the cabin hehehehe. But otherwise, I don't find myself going over 100mph (over 100mph here in SoCal is an automatic reckless driving citation), so 6th could stand to be a little shorter too.
I know this is a tough proposition, and costly too, since we've got two final drives in our trannies. But any info or speculation would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

can't answer your question, but for me 1st gearing is just right, I like it as is, and same with 6th. To avoid being beaten off the line by a tractor, bring revs to about 3-3.5k rpm and drop clutch. I think slow off the line-ness is more of an issue of not having S-charger spooled up to kick in.
Just my 2c worth.

Albert, the taller 1st gear is better suited for track-time than neck-snapping, tire-roasting-Woodward-cruising acceleration
Cheers,
Ryan
P.S. I would doubt MINI would want to change the gearing on the S, and isn't not as simple as changing the pig in your Ford 9" rear-end; the final drive ratios are integral to the transmission! (read: new tranny for this idea to become reality)
