I used the JCW belt. I did not lower the redline and usually shifted at about 6500 when on the track. Usually was using 100 octane. Used the M7 thermostat and the big M7 IC hood scoop with Alta IC. All these things helped keep temps down very nicely.

There is a company that Sells M7 products in the UK but every time i send an email i get no reply so i may just see if i can deal with M7 directly! but i need to save the dolla up first as theres other bits i want from them as well i.e. M7 upper and midd grilles in black and the CF aero front splitter!

only 10 more days till i finalise my order for the S then is modding time!

Little off topic, and I know it has been discussed, but would you guys recommend the M7 16% or an ALTA 17%?

Thanks (please don't start a flame war, I'm only looking for a simple-quick answer),

Go with the M7 16%, then put on M7 2% crank pulley.

But that's more money..... BTW: I read somewhere (I think from Randy) that after 15% it's useless to normal people because you would never use the power, and isn't the SC running to high of RPM's (recommended) with anything above a 15%? And for daily driving, occasional auto-x, and maybe a couple of track days....will I be able to see a big improvement from the 15% to a 16%, with or without the 2% crank?

From what I've read, polizei, is that the 16% MIGHT JUST be on the trailing edge of the supercharger's efficiency (think of a bell curve – just off of the peak). Randy sez the 15% is the most efficient, but I imagine he's mostly talking in terms of 15-17-19 increments.

A big improvement from 15 to 16? Sincerely doubt it. A couple HP. My MINI is stock, but I've decided to go with the 16% eventually, since it's THE or SLIGHTLY below peak efficiency, but still has all of the benefits of the 15 (stock-size belt, almost guaranteed no probs).

If you go with the 16% pulley you might want to run the JCW belt. It fits perfect and works GREAT. Thats what peter recommends. The stock belt will work with it but why not change the belt out once you change the pulley. You are all the way there, why not change it you know what I mean. Its only $25.00 at your local mini.

The M7 16% reduction was a VERY nice upgrade. I got alot of power added. Now i am waiting for my AGS V3 to come in and thats going to top my car off for awhile... I wanted to get the DFIC but money flow is low. That will be one day. Good luck, The job takes about 3 to 4 hours to do the pulley exchange. Make sure you have ALL the tools to do the job. Its alot easier doing that..LOLOL Later and good luck Spike

So, what I'm getting at is, with the M7 16% pully and ALTA 17% pully there isn't much of a difference (enough that I would notice?). Thanks for all of the advice guys, and I do need to replace my belt anyway (it squeals). I think it might be cracked, or it might break soon. I'll see if I can "sqeeze" the pully in there, but I doubt it...my parents said I cannot mod the car until I get it paid off.....grrrr, but if I have to replace my belt anyway, I mise well just get a pully at the same time.....

Lol, I hope that belt lasts a year longer!

IF the belt breaks, the tension pulley willl jam into the crank shaft and freeze the motor up.. Thats what i heard. So i would be careful. Good luck Spike

LOL! Please don't tell me that....just delete the post! I can't afford anything, lol. Does anyone know if the belt is replaced under warrenty? If it's under warrenty, whooohooo! If not....I'll have to have my friend buy me a pully and I'll have to pay him back later.....now the hard part would be, not letting my dad know......hrmmm... I know once it's installed, he would never know, but installing it would be the problem, since I would doing it myself...I would possibly need his help. That wouldn't be good. Maybe if I just tell him it's the stock pully...

Ahh, or even better, meet up with someone around me and do a pully party, or someone that would help me....then I could just say he/she is helping me with the belt install, because it's difficult and you must lift the motor (right?). Then I could just do the pully. This is bad....I really shouldn't be thinking of ways to mod my car without letting my parents know....

MyMini offers a similar product called the Tensioner Stop Bar, and it's a little cheaper at $20USD (the Lohen one is $35.05USD)

i would like to stand against the cranks..
jus go 19% straight or go 17% because u WILL BE USING all the powers they produce.. they produce low end power, which will let you drive much more easier.

I think I heard Randy Webb mention that he runs a 15% on his race car because he keeps it a high revs almost all of the time. He said, I believe, that the higher percentage pullies make more power in the lower rev range, but he just wasn't going to be down there long enough for it to be worth the extra strain on the supercharger.
