So how mod friendly is the JCWs kit

New here so if this needs to be moved to 1st gear so be it...just alot of meet and great there and I am looking for a little bit more meaty info..

I am starting to shop the used mini market in search of an S with relatively low miles..and seeing alot of JCWs cars out there pretty aggressively priced so I am thinking I might just focus on getting a JCWs car instead of getting and S and upgrading it myself. But I was wondering what else could be done to the JCW kit...pulley? exhaust (maybe)..., programming...

I am coming from the world of turbos so modifying a supercharged car is a little foriegn to me.

any feedback for me?

Thanks

Good question. Read this and it should clarify everything!

To give a quick summary, there is nothing simple to do because all the easy stuff to do is done and adding anything else won't add up to much of anything without getting a port and polished head. Then you can add headers, a new throttle body, etc.

Another question for you might be, If you are willing to modify the car further (aka voiding the warranty), is the JCW right for you?

JCW is a safe way to get a modified MINI while maintaining the warranty. You are able to get the same amount of power for WAY cheaper through aftermarket parts, but the problem is you will lose the warranty. If you are already willing to chance losing the warranty, is spending the extra cash for warranty-safe mods worth it?

Just something to think about. There isnt a right answer. I'm just putting it out there

actually my plan was to get the used S and work it over with one of the kits (other then JCWs) that are out there. But after looking at the market a bit, and seeing I could score a decent JCW for only $1-2k more then a similar S I thought it might be worth is...

TBH I am going used because I just dont drive enough any more to rationalize dropping $40k on a new car and the minis see to fit into my $25k budget too...this also means I don't get much time to drive the car so I don't want to have to be fiddling w/it all the time..which makes me a bit leary of the kits out there...they seem pretty time intensive..unlike say, the JCWs kit (or in the world of VW and Audi, APR's Stg 3 kits)...
