The issue isn't whether or not they can detect it, per se, but rather if any damage is done because of it. If so, and they can detect it, they warranty will no cover whatever is damaged. Since it an ECU flash rather than piggyback (is that no correct), certainly they should be able to tell what software version is running?

From what I have been told and this applies to GIAC is that the flash while changing part of the software program, it doesn't change the file name so when the dealer plugs it they see "their file name/version". If dealers think the ecu may be a part of a probllem, they typically reflash the ecu with their most current program. Having said that this is on the GIAC Website.

6. Will my dealer void my warranty? It could happen. GIAC has developed and will continue to develop its products to be compatible with factory and other scan tools. GIAC does not condone or recommend any attempt to mislead factory automotive service providers for the purposes of complying with factory warranty agreements. In addition, GIAC makes no guarantees on it products’ compliance with such warranty agreements.
