Here the indispensible vise I keep talking about...Everything I've made are cut to shape (on the floor!) from scrap aluminum stock with a hacksaw then filed to shape I wasn't kidding about my "Taliban Gun Shop"
My sentiment is that this pic was "arranged" to throw us off. I suspect a 5 car garage and a crew of 6 - wearing matching jumpsuits. I bet they even use those walkie-talkie headset gadgets. Proabably even has a "clean room"

LOL

Good work Sid.

I’m not trying to detract from your efforts but since the topic has veered towards tools and facilities here’s a well set-up shop closer to BahamaBart’s fantasy to massage the eyes with. http://www.theoldone.com/Facility/Facility.htm
No team in jumpsuits, just two guys in matching T-shirts and a part time welder.

Thanks guys...

I'm seriously going to tackle the dump called my garage this summer. I need to park a "Pod" on the driveway and stuff everything into it. Then paint the walls, put up lights, cabinets, work benchs and coat the floors...then find my tools and actually organize them:impatient

Sid,

let me know how that organizing thing works out for you. I seem to organize mine every couple of months and it gets worse each time!

When I was a kid, my Mom always was on me to clean my room.

I'd always say "but with everything on the floor, it's really easy to find stuff. I can see everything!"

She didn't buy it.....

sorry if this is a silly question but...what would happen to the typical airbox/cai that most owners have? as i believe the scoop funnels all the intake air from the front directly towards the intercooler. would the DFIC basically make the cai non-essential?

or would changes need to be made to the existing cai? would certain types/makes work better with the DFIC, ie. stock or alta or jcw or ags? or is it even necessary to make any changes?

thanks for the clarification, especially since this is something that interests me greatly.

In terms of intakes, I don't think most of them rely on the air coming through the scoop. There's a second scoop located below the IC scoop that funnels cold air from the front of the car to the airbox. The other source of air for most intakes is sucking against the flow in the cowl vent area. Changing to the DFIC will have little or no impact on the airflow to most intakes.

With the "Offset" scoop for the DFIC, would there be any benefits to creating a smaller opening to the side directed at that intake scoop? Kind of a Ram air for the Intake box as well as for the DFIC. Am I making any sense

No. You would be removing potential air flow for the IC.

The system works amazingly well...my car has never run so strong....also remember that M7 also makes the AGS which (it seems to me)derives no appreciable air from the cowl...... my suggestion is not to "virtually re engineer" but put one on your car.

FANTASY? first MISFITOY pic is representative of a minute area of my I've garage. His pic represents what my garage looks like AFTER i have cleaned up! This weekend I will take a pic of my workbench - and show all of you what clutter truely is! I'm telling you guys - MISFITOY is pulling the wool over our eyes. We are being PUNKED!

Sorry about the temporay high jacking of the thread - back to IC units.

I was going to clean up my garage (oops meant shop, no car has seen the inside of this "garage") until I saw this thread. I've reached my threshold, in fact reached it many times, and must clean up/organize. I'll show mine if you'll show yours - to any and all. Who's got the most cluttered garage/shop? Sorry about the off topic, maybe start a new thread.
