I'll have the NY Strip with sauteed mushrooms and baby potatoes smothered in butter. Carrots sticks on the side and a Molson Canandian

It's gonna be a big tab

In addition to Spider X you can also keep a eye out for Msfitoy as well as perhaps one of the few really white mini's around at this time. Look for a pearl white Mini S with Power By Cosworth on the front windshield and ask Don for a look at the goodies

GM Matt,

If my GF wasn't coming I'd tell you to "jump on a plane and I'll pick you up in Asheville"......sure wish you were going to be there.....it is going to be like "Woodstock" for Minis.

it popped to 16 tonight but that is it.....I actually got 18 with the WMS once or twice but I call it 17.......15-16 is it so far.... with the scvoop I may do better...... I just put the cam in and I am getting something out of that but I may have to go to a light FW and the AGS to get the throtle response I want..... i have friend with a turbo Miata who gets 220 whp and his car is a bear......I am very interested in how other cars perform this weekend. how much boost do you see? also what mods do you have?

Boost is only part of equation...

With one of my favorite mods, I actually lost 1.5lbs of max boost; but more importantly, I turned faster times on my canyon runs. Ultimately, that's the goal... more giddy-up!

The mod I'm referring to is going to a 2.5" 'SuperBorla' straight exhaust (battery box removed). My car got faster, although my max boost decreased. I think that's a pretty good deal actually!

With an intercooler, as Dr. O would say, the bottom line is molecular density; or the combo of pressure (boost) and temperature. Sacrificing some boost for improved cooling of the charged air can certainly be worth it. If the boost were a lot higher, one would expect that the charged air is moving so fast, that it now has less exposure (time) in the core, and with that not cooled as well. It's a trade-off; a fine balance...

For me, I'd prefer to get the same (or more) power with cooler air and less boost than just more boost on a hotter charge (IAT).

The addition of the correct scoop will aid further in the cooling of course, but it won't, or at least shouldn't increase the max boost readings currently seen...

Also, when comparing boost readings, it is imperative to keep everything else constant before drawing conclusions. A boost reading a couple months ago, and one done now might simply yield different numbers by virtue of an ambient temp delta; not to mention a differnt combo of mods...

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the info..... Dr. O style...... I am not as concerned but more curious......what I have is plenty..... I am more thinking of cooling as you mentioned..... my car runs much better at 50 deg OAT than 90 OAT..... I used to fly single engine planes (Mooney, Cessna, Piper) and OAT and EGT was always part of the leaning process...... so when I get a chance I will addd the IAT and OAT from the IC nstrument and see where we are at..... Dr. O will probably have it done by then.

I was more curious about others boost...... I thought 15 was the norm for a moddd car w pulley... but thanks Tony....... I always fine your info helpful

15 to 16 is pretty normal for a pullied car with a port/polish intake manifold [creates a little larger volume, decreases boost] and a p&p head like you have, too. These both reduce boost by increasing flow quality, while increasing power. Hope this helps. . Enjoy the Dragon... lucky @%@%$@!
