I was trying to install the alta short shifter in my 04 mini cooper S but i can't get the new shifter to fit into the shift box. I ordered the one for the 04 models but somebody said that i might need the one for the 03 cars. Can someone please help me and tell me if i have purchased the right one or do i need to exchange it for the shifter for the 03 models? I would really appreciate the help. Thanks, Peter W.

 

I'm not quite sure I understand your problem....are you saying you have fitted the Short-shift extension piece and now you can't get the white plastic cover back on to the bottom of the selector box?

If this is your problem, there is no problem You are supposed to leave this cover off once you fit the helix!

Sorry if I have misunderstood you and pointed out the obvious to you as I'm pretty sure that this step is clearly outlined in the instructions.

 

when u remove tha shift boot wat colour is ur shift box, if its white then u have an early shift box u will need to exchange it for a 03 car. u can also tell by lookin' at ur OEM shifter and comparin' tha ends(round *****)where the cables attach to they should be same in size
