Drivetrain belt wear
belt wear
I've had an alta 17% pulley on for about a month and I am noticing some belt wear. The edge closest to the supercharger is beginning to get chewed up. The stock belt was replaced with a Napa belt when the pulley was put on. Could this be due to the pulley being misaligned? Has anyone had a similar problem with the Napa belt? Should I change the Napa belt and replace it with the stock belt or some other belt?
Well, I was told that a 17% would last you about 60,000 miles. Since you got it only a month ago, there might be something wrong. You might want to take it where you got it installed, and ask them.

That is another story...
I'm having the same problem
Weezer2282,
Just changed my serpentine belt this weekend for the same reason. The belt was badly worn on the "inside" edge and a few pieces had actually been gauged out. Looked like MINI had been attacked by mice.
Am using an Alta 15% pulley and the belt has been on only 2000 miles. Wonder if I don't have the pulley seated all the way. Didn't have this problem with the 19% pulley. Will take the car apart this Wednesday and try seating the pulley better.
