Umm....What's a throttle body and why would someone want and aftermarket or larger one???

Ordered mine today! A throttle body in simple terms replaces that old tech carburettor. It's a fuel injector device that mixes precise amounts or fuel and air as determined by electronic inputs from the drive by wire gas pedal and the ecu. I larger diameter throttle body translates into more fuel/air mix going through the intake manifold, therefore more HP. I'm sure our performance experts can add more detail. I do know though that the throttle body is extremely complex and you can't simply bore out the stock one without other considerations.

 

Do search boys, this was discussed already in the last couple of weeks.

 

Where did you order the throttle body,and price.Randy isn't quite ready to ship his,although I'd like to buy from him

Even though Randy already pointed everyone to the .Throttle Body How-to and Discussion thread, I thought I would just mention that it is worth the time to read most of the thread - hugely informative and very helpful.

 

Yes, I happened to be talking on the phone to Randy about his tour when he got a phone call about final pricing. Randy said he could now release the product to the market so I ordered right there and then.

 

Probably missed this, but I couldn't find anything in the various throttle body threads about whether the same modified TB is compatible with the both Cooper and the S. (Randy???)

No, the Cooper does have a different TB. We can do that as well, but have not yet received the core required (and there hasn't been any testing on it yet).

We do, that is why we have both a Cooper and a MCS test mule. :smile:
