I just purchased my MCS a week ago and am still in a semmingly long breakin period. I was told that they are limited to 135 mph. I have not yet reached 90 for the sake of breaking it in but was curious of ways of removing the limiter if it even exists. I figure that you could with an aftermarket CPU mod but wasn't sure of any other ways. Thanks.

I have had mine up to 135 and the revs are rather siginifigant, I don't remember exact numbers (too busy driving) but the car did not have much more room as far as rpm range left. Others will have the very technical answer, but this is what I experienced.

I went to visit my bud at northern Illinois university, dekalb. We went to the girls rugby game...hehe. I got on 88 east from annie glidden in dekalb, and put the hammer down. I didnt keep it at 135 for long at all though, the revs were way too high for my taste (for constant driving)

Aftermarket chip is the only way I can think of. Old-school methods of sniping a wire or soldering in a resistor aren't compatible with the complex systems in the MINI. I've only gone an indicated 120 mph or so, with plenty of reserve (on a closed course with a professional driver of course ). The theoretical top speed in 6th is 165 mph at 6950 RPM, or 173 mph at 7300 RPM. Of course, you'd need a HUGE amount of power to reach that since drag forces increase exponentially with speed. I don't think an otherwise stock MCS can go much faster than 140 mph or so with the rev limiter removed.

Mine will hit readline at 135 in 5th. But like Andy implied, I doubt if a stocker could make it much past 140 due to drag, but with an aftermarket chip comes more power and one may be able to get the little bugger up around 150 with enough cop-free open road.

Anybody who's installed a chip, please post your top speed here.
