AGS sound clip

I may not know the dyno numbers but I can at least let you hear what it sounds like. I recorded these short clips with a cheesy Canon Power Shot A75 and had no idea if it would work or not. Had I known it was actually recording I would have tried to do a better job. In any event you will get the idea. Lousy photorgapher ME, driver WIll Turner.

Guess your G1 died like mine did a few months ago... Either way, the A75 did well enough... I like the sound! Thanks for sharing Randy.

Is it just me or are there two sounds? Engine sound and something that sounds like rotors (on a helicopter?). That's the best way I can describe it. Is the rotor sound something else?

Aside from the engine/supercharger, the only other things I hear are the exhaust and background wind.

Yes you are correct my G1 did die. It would not take a charge so I bought a new battery. Same problem with the new battery. Was cheaper to buy a new camera than get it fixed for now.

I tried my dangest to revive mine (G1), and through much research found that it's most likely a fuse that costs like 5 bucks (very common issue, unfortunately). But you have to be McGyver to fix it apparently . I tried, and got a little intimidated. Sold it as is via Craigslist for 30 bucks... Bought if for a grand a few year ago .

Back on topic. So... What did Mr. Will Turner have to say about the AGS??? I never actually met him, but his company has been a pleasure to work with..

Well I am sure most of this will come out in the Eurotuner article but some of the highlights for me were his overall comments on the car. To start with I had installed a fresh set of Leda's and took a guess at the settings with a 12 from soft in the rear and 4 from soft in the front. The car is set about 1.3 inches lower than stock on all 4 corners. We have the prototype under strut system on the car so I wanted the front to be a little softer. The H-sport sway bars were full stiff in the back and soft in the front. Front camber was -2 and rear -1.25 . Toyo Ra1 205/40/17 36 degrees front and 34 degrees rear cold.I had the wing and splitter set for minimum drag as the track layout was really not to a Mini's liking with two fifth gear sections in a 1.25 sec per lap layout.

I went out for my two lap sessions and thought it was working quite well with a little push in the slower corners. When it was Will's turn I gave him a quick run down on the suspension and that I thought the USS may be causing a slight push. He thanked me for the heads up and took off. It is fun to see what your car can really do He came back in and the first words out of his mouth were " I could race this just the way it is ". My day was made ! He said he did not notice a push and was able to rotate the car at will.I asked him what I could do to improve the handling of the car and his response was " nothing " . He said it is rare to basically throw a suspension together which I had done the day before and have it work that well. He had so much fun driving the car that for his last open session he had me go put some more fuel in it and we went out together to harass everything on the track including a tracked out super charged M3 and the JIC drift Silvia I learned why he found no push and it was a difference in driving style . In the slow stuff he would give the wheel a little wiggle and set the rear end loose just enough , straighten it out and off we would go. Learning that trick alone was well worth the effort for me to get there. He has a set up mini at home with NOS full time so he felt rite at home in my car. It was strange to see a guy 6'4" get in and move the seat FORWARD a bit LOL The final result was that his best was 1:22.2 to my best of 1:25.8 and he did got to that time in 5 laps, man can he drive !
Some of the prelim info is on the front page here. www.eurotuner.com

I have a 15% supercharger pully and one of our 2% crank pullys in play at this time so you are hearing approx a 17% over drive .

Sound of AGS

I hear that sweet sound every day and never get tired of it . I should just ditch my Harmon K and save a few pounds.

Thats what i was wondering, what exhaust is on there. The car has two very apparent sounds...S/C and exhaust.

I've had the car for about 3 years now and have been busy with it for much of the time . To answer your question it might be easier to just refer to a somewhat current Mod list. It will save on the typing

The header is a 4-2-1 built by jardine for Jackson racing and sold thru Moss MINI. Hows that for details It is a " off road use only " header but I had the stock cat installed in it with a bit of welding. The Mini stock cat is not that bad when you really look at it and I wanted to attempt to keep the car legal at least from a SMOG standpoint. The exhaust is the Borla " race " system. It was too quiet for me once I installed the cat so I removed the resonator so now the acutal sound reduction is being done by the two Maxwell House coffee can sized mufflers at the rear of the system. To me it sounds great but I have always liked my toys loud I get a chuckle when i see people posting about how loud their cars are they have no idea

I will try to make a few more clips if you like when I get a chance . I still only have that little camera but it will at least give you an idea.
