Do you own a MINI yet?

Are you looking at the MC or MCS?

Hangers for the mufflers are different for the more recent years vs the older MINIs if you are looking at the used MINI.

Do you have a MINI club in your area? If so then go to one of their events and do the measuring you need.

There are problems with what you propose. Aftermarket exhausts already exist for both the MC and MCS which have been extensively tested for performance and for fitment.

When you design your own exhaust you don't know how it will sound (good or bad) or how it will perform.

Single sided cat back exhausts weigh about 20-22 pounds while double sided weigh about 32-35 pounds. The MCS can fit either design while the MC uses a single sided exhaust (note exhaust outer diameter is different for the MC due to need for adequate back pressure).

oops need more info...

I have a 03 Mini Sooper S........ I am aware of the aftermarket exhaust systems out there but I can design my own for half the price and get the sound and performance I am looking for.

Like I said if I know what the factory muffler dimensions are I can find a muffler to put in its place after a little research.

I also had looked into getting a custom exhaust done for me.

Makes for a nice project but your results may vary.

The stock MCS cat back exhaust dimensions:

Straight pipe 2.25" x 77.5" with a bend to the passenger side muffler/resonator
(12x16" by 8" tall but very irregular shape like a trapezoid) next comes a connector pipe 2.5" x 26" to the driver side muffler (12x16x 8" tall) then ends with two tail pipes each 1.75", one measures about 12" and the other 15" long.

You can save weight going from straight pipe to the passenger side muffler then out to the center.

hey hey hey, only I have a Sooper S

Anyways, back on topic.

The MCS system also seems to have a little dip in the system, right after the center hangar whereas my MC didnt seem to have one.

thanks

I am assming that the wides part is 12 inches and the longest part of the muffler is 16 inches. So that isnt the exact true useable size but close enough. Great thanks again..

Um...if you have a Cooper S now, why not just measure the muffler on your car?

Am I missing something here?
