Drivetrain Monster Force Intake
#2
The Moster intake is a K&N cone filter with replacements for the "snorkel" tube and throttle body rubber boot that are made out of aluminum. There is no heat shield on the S intake, while the Cooper kit does have one. That allows some unwanted heat into the intake on the S. I have a customer who has one of these intakes and fabricated a heat shield and noticed a performance difference after the mod.
The other issue for this kit and the K&N kit is that aluminum is very heat conducive - and that's what the replacements are made from. One way to fix this issue would be some header heat wrap - which would lend a cool aerospace look to your engine compartment.
Here are the key issues on the intake (and the Typhoon from K&N is very similar):
Replacement runners for better flow - made from aluminum
Better surface area from the conical filter
Better flow from the material quality
No heat shield - which does allow the use of any stress bar
$240
Here is a pic of the system:
Let me know if you have any other questions.
