I've got a pair of Puma Speedcats and a pair of Adidas Tuscany. I think the sole of the Pumas is too narrow. It doesn't cover the full width of the ball of my foot. I'll go to heel / toe, pointing my right foot like this / , and the little toe side of my foot will hit the gas pedal, but with the cloth side of the shoe, not the rubber sole. Of course, they work great if you heel / toe with your right foot pointed like this \ which I'm trying to transition to doing more often even though it's less natural for me.

The Adidas have a nice wide sole, there's even a little rubber extension over by the little toe that wraps up the side of the shoe. These work so much better for me for heel / toe shifting.

Puma Future Cat Hi Pro P

Wore them around the house a couple hours a day with three pairs of thick socks on to stretch them out and now love'm. Excellent driving shoe that once stretched and broken in are VERY comfortable and agile in the cockpit.
Don't know how you guys are wearing those clunkers, Pilotis?

For the laydeez, they do. For the guys... we get black and white or white and black. :impatient Although I have seen many other colors, even in men's sizes, at other places. Mine are green, for instance.

Shoes and MINIs, in the same thread too. Yay!!

I wear mine alot as my MINI is my work car too.
I never know when a job site is going to take me out into the hills, and sometimes even through the Dragon.
One must be prepared.

Driving Shoes

I bought shoes by Piloti. They are designed for sports car driving and are THE most comfortable driving shoe I have worn. I drive 2 hrs a day to and from work and love them! Try the website www.piloti.com .

Piloti G16's

I got these for driving schools/track days and am very happy witht the fit and comfort. They were $80 at the Portland Vintage Car races, so no shipping.

Mine are on the way, thanks to this thread and upcoming .

Do most people wear them only when driving, or are they ok to wear casually (obviously when you've driven or are going to drive) like at Mini events and whatnot?

Up to now, I've worn Dr. Martens boots since high school for everything, except when wearing a suit or athletic gear. I'm thinking a good driving shoe would be quite nice.

I checked our local Nike store and they didn't have them. Guess I could look on line. Are you in the UK?

I love the piloti dtm's also. So much so that I have a pair for driving and a pair for everyday use.
I got a speedgear.com catalog in the mail this week and they have a special right now that if you buy 2 pairs of piloti's then you get $10 off each pair.

have fun,
Clint

I tried these and are great

I tried these Merrell Sprint 1940 and they are great. Nice leather and soft. No sole to hang on the edge of the pedels. Kinda retro!!! Also a great shoe for everyday.

Defo retro!
Those Merrell's remind me of hybrid - vintage 70's XC ski boot & bowling shoe.

I've used Merrell's for a few Adventure Races. I hope the pair you're picturing aren't as clunky.

Anyone pop for the fancy MINI-Motion shoes from Puma?

Thanks for starting a great thread

Love my Piloti Spyders. I've had them for a year and a half now. Feels very strange driving in any other shoe.

http://www.zappos.com/n/p?dp=3800073 I gto me a set of these, i love em. Great for everyday wear, look good, comfortable, and match the MINI, sort of. Ive seen other colors. My buddy has them in EB with white stripes, no joke lol. Matches the MINI perfectly.
