Hi everyone. Just wanted to post my dyno results after installing the magnaflow cat-back onto my 2003 MCS.

A little background on a couple things first:

1. I didn't get a chance to dyno the car bone stock because I was IMPATIENT :smile:

4. The dyno he uses is Dynapak, and as you can see by the picture below, the machine is mounted directly onto the wheel hubs, which from what I understand, eliminates variances that can be caused by tire pressures and tire wear. Also, and I might be off here, I believe this also eliminates frictional losses in HP from the tires. Lastly, Dynapak HP numbers tend to run a little higher than the others. Percentage wide differences I can't recall, but hopefully I'll get Ultimate Lurker to join us here and makes some comments.

That sounds about right. If we use most of what everyone is getting for a stock car of 147, you are getting 10-12 with just the exhaust.

We did quite a few pulls today with different set-ups.

I plan to do a post that talks about it this evening.

Randy

Thanks Albert for the post. It sounds like Shawn is going about his testing very methodically to reproduce accurate results.

The importance of that is understated. Engine temp is like a performance mod itself!:

Cold= a lot of hp
Hot= a lot less hp.

A problem arises when one manufacturer tests "cold" and another tests "hot". And that is only considering one variable (albeit the most significant one) out of the many.

The magnaflow certainly produces a substancial HP gain.
You can "feel", the power.

Peace,
D

and "hear" it....

sorry I just had to....

I'd be interested in the Torrance Dyno day. (I live in Torrance) I am not familiar with Shawn's shop...What is it called?

'Mog4d, I forget the name of his shop, but all it is is basically a garage for the dyno. The S2000 club usually does dyno days from time to time. When the next one comes up, I'll contact you with the details.
