Which part of " Looks like the body cross section is the same, just different length." did you not understand?

As far as re-animating MC components, those crafty mini blocks actually have both waterpump location holes machined in with a butt-plug in the unused one, however, the MC waterpump (or the alternator) occupies the space where the SC will reside and would require a drive belt mod. The Pangloss solution would be to bolt the stock S drive nosing onto the M62 housing, thus retaining the stock drive belt/idler/tensioner system, and use the BMW electric pump. One might get lucky adapting the stock snoots with a bit of modding.

I've looked into adapting the MINIs m45 nose to a m62 and its not possible. the mini only has 4 bolts holding it together while the m62 (all that i've been able to find) have 6 bolts. Our mini charger is highly modified from a standard m45...

Now with an autorotor charger i can have any drive nose i need made on a cnc. And it can be done very easily. I'm waiting for a response from a friend that makes autorotor SC kits for VWs.

I wish it was that easy...I would have to do a bunch of welding and would have to have the part decked to make sure it was straight.

It would have to be dropped off at the machien shop for a day, and it would cost between $50-75 for the work. Plus i would have to make a jig to hold it so they could make it perfectly flat.

As far as the waterpump is concerned you'll all just have to wait to see what i come up with.
What kind of a schedule are you on for this to develop .... one week....one month....six months etc?

this is very interesting

I might have missed this earlier in the thread, what's the going rate for an Autorotor? Is there a supply of used ones available? Sorry for the questions, I'm familiar with the autorotor, but not familiar with the applications in which it is used.

the drive end for the stock blower is held on to the rotor casing by eight bolts and is conceivably the same pattern for the M62/M45 if the rotor case cross sections are the same. The drive end also has three hole locations for attachment to the block, near the front (timing end)

the rotor case, farther back toward the flywheel end, has two hole locations also for attachment to the block. These would be in a different place on a M62.

For the definitive word on applications for the Autorotor, Kenne Bell. http://www.kennebell.net/index.htm

Looks like Kenne Bell's cheapest kit using a Lysholm twin-screw supercharger is $3k for the 5.0 stang basic kit (a car that sold in the hundreds of thousands):

http://www.kennebell.net/supercharge.../mustang50.htm

Bahn Brenner sells their cheapest kit using a Lysholm twin-screw supercharger for $2500 for the VW Corrado G60 (it replaces the weird and wacky G-lader supercharger).

Ok heres the deal, I now know that i can souce as many chargers as i need at a very good price. There are two different modles that i'm looking at. The model that RMS uses will flow enough for 270 whp after drivetrain losses and the charger losses. I could easily make this work, but there is something pulling me towards the other option. For very little i can get the next larger autorotor charger, the problem is its quite a bit larger (50%). This charger will flow up to 400 whp. The other thing is that both chargers use different mounting styles. I'm making models of the chargers now so i can remove everything from my mini and see if the larger charger will acutally work. The length of the larger charger is not the problem, its the width. We'll see if i can make it work.

PS: there used to be an inbetween size kind of like the m62 between the m45 and m90, but its no longer made so i wouldn't be able to source new units.

Autorotor, eh?

I'm liking where this thread is heading...

...However, it seems that the money-sucking, black-hole-like void mysteriously surrounding my MCS has now grown in size.

Kenne Bell has had other applications that are not on the web site today, most notably a sub $2000 for the Miata. I would imagine there a few things offered as off the menu items. He and others like Bahn Brenner would still be good resource for compatibility (larger is not always better) and fitting information.

Of course it’s entertaining to explore the options but there are other reasons beside economy of scale that make the Eaton Roots style a reasonable workhorse so try not to completely dismiss it as ineffective and obsolete.

Some good info here about Eaton Superchargers:

http://www.capa.com.au/eaton.htm

Application Guide:
http://www.magnusonproducts.com/reman/applications.pdf

Looks like the Nissan Frontier uses the M62.

Any news on this? I'd be very curious and possibly interested in the package.

You guys looking for an upgraded S/C mod do yourselves a favor and look up SpiderX. He did a mod upgrade to an M62 and eventually took it off after screwing around with it for months. Look up some of his posts, he has about 500, they are interesting reading. He sold his car finally in 2008 I believe.

Do you realize this thread is over 4 years old and SpiderX has posted in it?

Carter, What does the age of the post have to do with the pertinence of the information. That stuff is as true today as it was 4 years ago.

Just seems to me that resurrecting an old thread to post what today can be considered common knowledge in this forum was unnecessary.
