Blew up stock intercooler.

Well believe it or not, i blew the dam thing up. I was cruzing around in orlando, and it was about 50 degrees out. I was reading 18psi in 3rd gear and then suddenlt it dropped to 13 psi. I freaked out as i thought the belts was slipping and about to brake (happened before), so i pulled over and inspect it. NO problems there. Then i turn the car on a listen for leaks. sure enough i look at the intercooler and right at the seam where the end tanks meat the core it split!

I can't believe this happened. I'm going to assume that that part of the in was weak from the welding of two peices together. Anyway, the dealer is going to replace this one, and i'm going to purchase a better A/W core. Has this happened to anyone on here before?

Sort of strange that this would happen prior to your boots blowing first. No, never heard of this b4. Any photos to share?

Im shocked your intercooler has gone like that, id have thought the boots would have gone first running 18psi.

19% pulley, 7200 rpm. I think it was probly just a defective IC. And as far as the 18 psi, thats just what my autometer says. I know autometer gauges aren't acurate to 1-2 psi. It may only be 15 or 16 psi.
