Qs about flywheel?

I am rookie when comes to flywheel.
Can some expert on NAM educate me on this?
1. what is the use of flywheel?
2.where on my MCS does this parts go to?
3. How does it help to improve the performance?
4. Is it necessary for street driving?
5. does it provide better handling??
6. which brand out there makes high quilaty flywheel with reasonable price?
7. when is the best time for replacing the flywheel with a better one? (after pulley, exhuast, airintake??)

Thx for the help.

I am by no means an expert, but here goes:

1. The flywheel serves as a rotational mass between the engine and the drivetrain (best answer i can give sorry...)
2. It goes in between your engine and your transmission/clutch, etc.
3. When you lighten one, it reduces rotational mass. This means a faster spool up.
4. No. But if you track it alot, it is nice.
5. No
6. m7
7. if and when you replace your clutch. Otherwise, the cost of teardown/instilation is prohibitive.

I pretty much agree with the above. It's only useful for racing (non-drag). They are also noisy and make launching more of a chore. I put mine on when I added LSD. Spec makes a good fw, less $ than M7.

I am not trying to be a wise butt here but you may want to get a book on engine/car basics....It will help you enjoy your car more
