Mini Madness vs. Dinan (Engine Performance/HP Boost)

Mini Madness vs. Dinan (Engine Performance/HP Boost)

wondering if you guys can help me out deciding
between the above two options or any other options
that you might recommend so i can get into the 200+ HP at the tire
safely and reliabily.

I have a (May built) 2005 MCS Cabrio that
would like to boost horsepower/performance as reliable as posible

RELIABLE (being the key word here)

The Dinan stuff will not ruin my factory warranty and adds quite a lot but
the Mini Madness is really tempting to pass up since it adds a tad more HP
for more $$, but i think it will void certain warranties.

basically each mod have the following:

1. Pulley (15% or 17%)
2. Intake
3. Software
4. Exhaust (this is the difference between them that i'm most concerned,
since one has a double pipe exhaust (Borla) and the Dinan has only one.

I know there are other options for each stage (K&N, Supersprint etc...)
but need to know from actual owners that have put these into their cars.

sorry for the long thread but I'm ready to buy this right away and
would like to get some feedback from actual owners not just marketing
before i take the plunge and buy the parts.

thanks for your help
regards,
CJ

I think you answered your own question in the post - reliability and warranty (together) = DINAN. If it's not reliable, you can address via warranty.

Well your going to pay bucks for DINAN, but when I visited their shop in Morgan Hill, CA I found that it was well worthe the money. Those are such high quality parts. It is a work of art if you ask me. Now it was a little to quiet for me but I am a diehard racer and I love exhausts with no cat and no resonator. But the Dinan parts are amazing and there are reasons why they replace the fuel regulators for the front and back. To say simply it is due to the lack of gas that the motor gets if you just increase the boost so they worked with Factory Mini and they developed the two parts to counteract this. If you ask me I think they engineer their stuff way to well. Just my $.02

CJ,

Just wanted to throw another option out there. We can offer you more performance for similar or even less money, and we fully warranty everything.

Here is a link to our stage packages:

Performance Packages

Here's another link to our warranty:

Webb Motorsports Warranty

Feel free to contact me with any other questions you may have. We can provide dyno charts, customer comments, etc. Also keep in mind that I can build around your particular needs - we offer several product lines for that specific reason.

Hope that helps!

I thought the Dinan stuff did void the factory warranty, replacing it with a Dinan warranty like other aftermarket vendors. Granted, if your MINI dealer is also a Dinan dealer it probably makes no difference. But if you took your car to a non-Dinan MINI dealer, it wouldn't be surprising if they turned their nose up at it. Am I wrong on this?

You are correct. Some MINI dealerships are not DINAN authorized and cannot offer DINAN warranty work.

If you upgrade with DINAN or with JCW you replace the MINI warranty with that from DINAN (a little more generous than JCW) or from JCW.

If you move to another location that doesn't have a DINAN authorized center that could be a problem getting warranty work done.

hi

thank you guys for the comments
I would like to know more about these options

has anyone have done the intake from Dinan and
the exhaust from Borla etc....?

I'm liking what i see with Mini Madness regarding that they make
they're own exhaust and it makes sense the way they engineer it.
but the Dinan Intake sounds very interesting as well

my concern is about adding for example a header down the road etc...

so far this is what I'm thinking:

Intake: Dinan (the description of it makes sense)
Exhaust: Borla Street, Miltek (not sure yet)
Header: Mini Madness (100%)
Pulley: Dinan, Alta, Web Motorsport or Mini Madness (not sure yet)
Chip: Mini Madness, Web Motorsport

any comments or more ideas are welcome
regards,
CJ
