Belt Problems

Ok so i did a search and didnt find what i was looking for. I need to know if i need the pully tensoner tool to put a belt on. I just had mine break about 10mins ago and now im stuck at my house and i have to take a friend to the airport tomorrow morning. I will end up ordering a tool for future problems, but right now i need to get a belt on the car. And does anybody have a part number for the belt for a 16% m7 Pully? I know you can use stock but i had one that randy had put on the car a couple months ago.

I know you can do it using a screw driver, but it is very unsafe! But in your situation it seems like the screw driver option is the way to go. Check out webbmotorsports.com and look in his how to's.

I've done it with a long wrench, using the bolt as a fulcrum and hooling the open end on the side of the tensioner. hold the spring in place with a coat hanger.

Look on outmotoring how it looks like and make your own.

I have made mine with a piece of flat steel, a screw for pin and a piece of tube that I have sloted to make the pivot point. Took me 30 minutes to make it as I have used a hand saw then weld and voila...very simple

You need a Goodyear Gatorback baby. A stock or stock size will get you around. I carry two in the boot but have never needed them.

You'll probably have to bring part numbers with you.
Nobody seems to have trouble with the gatorback. I ran one for a few days, but took it off. It's bloody noisy!

I would offer to lend mine but one of the pins is loose ( my sloppy weld ). Don't have it with me and I have to fix it first.

I work just off of RT.# 175 at Gateway.

Cool, not to far away. Be nice to get some locals together and cruise around.

I'm gonna give the Gatorback a try at my next belt change. Do Goodyear shops tend to have the 4060537 in stock?

I have put ~25k on my latest G/Y belt. It still looks new! My local G/Y tire store told me a year ago that there was no such thing as a gatorback belt....even after G/Y had invested millions in NASCAR advertising....morons.

Ditto. My local Goodyear shop (which lists HOSES & BELTS on its sign) informed me that:

1) They do not sell parts unless they install them
2) There is no such thing as a Goodyear Gatorback belt

Where did you buy yours? Terry Sayther?

My Gatorback whined like a ****! It was kinda cool at first, but even the oblivious wife complained about the noise. Swapped it for a NAPA 539 & have run it about 8k. Seems to be holding up fine.

It's real hard to get good help these days.
The counter person probably didn't know how to write up the order as a CARRY OUT.
I feel like taking a picture of the packaging. Right across the front it says Gatorback The Guiet Belt. < thats for bodinski
Wouldn't you just like to rub that morons nose on it and say well what the H3LL is this then.
I think they have it in their system as a 4060537 POLY-V BLT
I would ask for the manager, these Goodyear Auto Service Center stores are a Division of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.
Have them enter the order under product code,
057-200 MISC BELTS/HOSES PARTS
4060537 POLY-V BLT
product code,
046-000 CARRY OUT

It is possible that I saw them at Summit racing to but the local store was faster.
Another number on the packaging, 6PK1365 = 6 RIB 1365 MM
Hope that helps
