AFC Select

Am I correct? In reading through the previous posts on AFC in general it seems that one either has the AFC or some kind of ECU software. Is it the assumption that the timing in the stock MCS software along with the AFC produces the same or better results than ECU modifications plus having the ability to let the user modify without having to upload new software?

I ask because I have the AFC installed. Upon the recommendation of other far more knowledgable than I, I removed my MTH. Now with the MTH turner software available I'm trying to determine if I should remain with the AFC or switch.

Any thoughts would be helpful.

Thanks

Bob

Why not have the MTH + AFC to fine tune it?

Makes perfect sence to me.. a few members have tuned the Mini in this way. Its a piggyback and not a stand alone, and thats what its made for ECU mod or not.

My 50 cents:smile:

Yeah what Uae said.. but then again it depends on the MTH your using. Where the more knowledgable than i guy was hinting too. Most of the MTH stock tuning was to use 91 <midgrade> octane fuel. Where as stock and specific <pre Tuner version(which i dont have YET)> MTH tuning <you had to ask for it> are set for Higher octane lvls. When i got my first set of Maps from Franz i got 4 maps all together, Low octane, High octane, High octane + alchol enriched and Race fuel. i was a very early customer of his. Soon after that he switched to only sending 2 versions then to 1 version which was the Low octane map. <I believe>. I have both the MTH and SAFCII <not select> on my rig. and have two settings on the SAFC. setting 1 for Pump gas Autocross and Setting 2 .. 110 octane Race fuel for Drag racing. Also disconnect it and use MTH only for around town and highway driving on pump gas.

The Tuner version i would guess is set for the High octane fuels with better timing than the stock programming along with better A/F setting to start with. But its always a good idea if you can Fine tune these settings for your area and driving style. This is why i still planning on keeping both even after switching to the Tuner version of MTH

Until we meet on the road
Have fun, Be safe and Keep MOTOV8N
