have been playng around with this for a week or two and will feedback whatever to help trouble shoot and get a production version released.
This very powerful data logger can pick the brains of your mini. By no means am I a wizard, but you can measure just about any variable that has a sensor on the car: MAP, IAT, ign timing for each cylinder, knock correction, RPM, throttle position, O2, wheel rotation (each one), gearbox temp...you get the idea. plus it has readouts I have yet to figure out for things like: sunroof, windows, lighting, etc.
data files are saved and so far, examined with Excel.
You will be hearing a lot more as others chip in.
It requires a PC with a USB port.

go to the ross-tech website to get an idea of what they are doing for other cars, for example.
I forgot to mention it can record and reset diagnostic error codes.
There are a shiteload of variables in it's table of contents; many of them are going to need some mini expertise to make use of. for example, there are four or five variables for throttle position, some are dynamic and some appear to be limit points. For knock, you can read knock voltage, knock window, crank angle of correction, knock noise voltage, etc.
Ultimately, this product would let you tweak anything the ecu controls including things like the headlamps and warning lights.

I love my beta bim-com. Having used ross-tech's vag-com with the VW's I owned I couldn't wait for the bim-com to come out. It truly is an innovative tool that no backyard mechanic would want to be without. The datalogging capabilities are great if you ever do have a problem with your car and are trying to troubleshoot something.

dihayashi, it’s not a full-blown product yet, so be patient. As jlm said, it would take some wizardry to make sense of all the data the vehicle generates; at least at this point, since there are no instructions or tables to use as guidelines. It makes you wonder why some of the components in the MINI talk and why those inane parts create so many faults.
There more I lpay the more I learn
The more I learn the more I need to know
Great product. For the technerdical group it's a must have.

I've been using Bim-Com (beta) for a little while, and thus far it is awesome! Data logging with subsequent scanning of the spreadsheet has been most informative and educational. I can't wait for the final version ---
