FYI, for those of you in So. California, Steve at Steve's Auto Clinic has a couple of Millteks in stock. I just got mine installed on Saturday, and it took Steve all but 30 min. to do the installation with one additional helper.

The Milltek was exactly as described by others on NAM, and I'm very pleased with the sound and power improvements. The best part was that the burble & pop sound has become even more noticeable. On my way home there's a long stretch before a nice 90 degree curve. You should've seen the envious look this guy in the 996 gave me after he heard me lift and downshifted as I came around the corner. Needless to say, the sound was pretty sweet; almost WRC rally racing like without the POV sound.

As far as noise goes, my girlfriend described it the best, she says the exhaust makes the car sounds "almost hairy chested". You don't really notice any "boom" until you hit almost 4000 rpm. Below that, the sound is more "bassy" vs. stock's raspy and tinny sound. At idling from a cold start, there's a slight vibration that you can feel, very similar to the sensation I had when riding in my friend's Ferrari 360.

As for power, I can't describe to you how quickly I can overtake others, thanks to the improved powerband in the mid-range on up. Near redline upshifts have never come so quickly for me. Now that the engine is breathing better, around town driving requires even less throttle input, but who can resist pressing down the gas pedal?!?

Overall, I'm very pleased, and would highly recommend anyone who's been thinking about making this mod to go with Milltek. Of course, big kudos to Steve, who did a wonderful job of installing. It's really good to see someone who's so passionate about the Mini

Great writeup! Glad you like it! It is the best exhaust that I have felt/heard to date... IMHO...

Green Giant please stop!
I just left my car this morning with Steve. He's installing a Milltek exhaust, Alta CAE, oil catch can and lowering springs plus control arms.
Picking it up this afternoon. I'll take some pics and post them here.

PS: Did I say that Steve's pricing is really good. Super nice guy, can't wait.

Well I just got my Scorpion exhaust last night and installed it as well. It took me maybe 1hr-1:30hr tops. A good part of it was taking the exhaust out of it packaging and cleaning up the mess hahaha. But I have to say this is one nice exhaust!!! I would have to go on the same terms as Green Giant has stated for the milltek! The car screams when you give it gas and purrs when cruising and idleing. In a few days ill have to retighten everything as things settle in. The inner brackets for the scorpion on an 05 is tight to get to when attaching the brackets, but not a huge issue. With some wearing in and some fine adjustments in a few days, the MCS should be good as gold. When i have some time, ill take some pictures and some video clips of the exhaust in action. But all in all I am very happy with my purchase and I am sure things will be even better after the exhaust settles in!!

Can't believe you're following my lead.
With all that work being done, don't forget to ask Steve to do the MTH upload/download for you, unless you've already got the ECU part covered.

Yes, Steve's great, and you should put some of the blame on him; his enthusiasm and passion about the car really rubs off, and you just can't help but get sucked in just a little more each time !
