Yes, they come with oil installed. We have to
put oil in them for our testing process. We actually
lower very strong magnets into the oil while the unit
is on the tester to be sure there are no metal particles.
We also install magnetic oil fill plugs before we ship the unit.
(these can be inspected during the life of the supercharger
to check for excess wear or problems - if metal particles
attach to the magnet).
Note: If you purchase a M45 for stock - we would not receive
a core back. So you would have to pay the $250.00
core charge. Of course when ever you do replace the
supercharger you can ship the old one in and get your
core charge back. (We usually don't charge the core
charge unless we do not receive the core back within
30 days).

If anybody is still reading this thread....
Supercharger oil is a very thin full synthetic motor oil. When we
rebuild supercharger we usually use a 5W or at worst a 10W
full synthetic oil. We recommend that the oil is changed after a 500
mile break-in period and every 20K - 30K miles. We also install magnetic
oil fill plugs so they need to be cleaned before install.
Also, when changing the oil you will need to run the motor for about
5 minutes before removing the oil (this makes sure any dirt/metal particles
are suspended in the oil). You will also need a syringe with a 6" - 8" hose
to suck the oil out of the supercharger. Inspect the oil. We also recommend
that you flush the supercharger at least once because you can not get all the
oil out of the supercharger. Run the engine another 5 minutes and pull the
oil out again. Inspect the oil by pouring some onto a nice white sheet of
paper and inspect for dirt or metal particles(if there is excessive amounts
of metal particles something is most likely going wrong). Repeat the flush
if needed and until the oil is clean. Replace the oil for the last time filling
until the oil is at the level of the fill hole.
You can buy the GM supercharger oil but if you do flush the supercharger
the cost of the oil gets excessive. One or two qts. is usually plenty to
flush a couple of times and a refill.
We do offer a kit for those who cannot or don not want to find the
syringe/hose combo. Kit comes with oil,flush oil,syringe w/hose. We sell
it for basically what it costs us - for our customers.
NOTE: NEVER put gear lube into the supercharger. The oil is to thick which
creates a great deal of heat..... usually causing seal failure. NEVER!
We have had supercharger come in that the customer put gear lube into
it to quite the bearing noise. The supercharger got so hot the paint blistered
off the supercharger and melted the seals!

I have an 03S and my girlfriend has an 03 (non-S...
) we live in Phoenix and when it is warm out (90-115) we both notice a sound that is similar to a jet engine (turbine) whine when turning off our cars. What could this be? also, I had my SC replaced 45000 miles ago by the dealer in Scottsdale. Should I check the levels now? Or should I change the oil out for something really good...like a royal purple or Redline type of oil. (something that can take a beating)

Forgot to ask if anyone has seen a detailed step by step instruction on how to remove the SC? Would it be worthwhile to upgrade the pulley while its readily available? I have read that an upgrade on the pulley helps prolong the life of the SC. Is that correct?

it's normal. You can tell they're going to fail when they start cutting to half power frequently.

If anybody's still reading...
Does anyone know if dealerships carry the s/c reservoir bolts or if I'll have to contact Eaton? Some genius (not sure if service dept or PO) stripped out the reservoir bolt on the pulley side and I'm going to do the flush/fill if I can get new hardware. There's an unpleasant noise coming from the pulley side, so I'm assuming it needs to be done (I'm at ~95K mi).

Is there only one type of supercharger fluid available or can we "upgrade" on it? Does Redline or Royal Purple make a supercharger fluid? Maybe some fancy European stuff? If I (or anyone else for that matter) will change their fluid in their supercharger, then there should be something really good we can put in it...right?

Since I'm in there at 85K I pulled the SC. It just looked too difficult to reach in that tiny hole, turn at a downward angle and suck out oil. Plus with it off you can look in the hole. Pour out the oil... get 4.5 oz out from the pulley side and 1.5 from the Wpump side. With a flash light I can see the gears look good, oil is dark. Bought GM oil, $11.98 / 4oz. Put 5.5 oz. in the pulley side and fluid level is good with SC horizontal. Then put 2.5 in the pump end and as I lean it over fluid starts to run out, I catch an ounce before it stops at near horizontal. So for me, basically 1.5 oz went back in the W pump end.

The Waterpump side tends to fail at higher frequency as it has less fluid in the reservoir.
