Drivetrain Is the 05 thermostat now a 180?

Meb:a partially closed thermostat shunts part of the flow around the radiator, reducing cooling by moving less of the water through the radiator.

Then at least my '05, is different. It fluctuates like every other temp gauge I've had (GM and Ford...shudder).
