Question about used Magnaflow

I bought a used Magnaflow system that did not have the bolts that connect the resonator to the cat. I went to Home Depot and bout 3/8 X 1 1/2 SS bolts with cut washers. The worry I have is the washers, they look thin. Any thoughts on if I should leave it the way it is or get thicker washers. It is nice and tight.
Also, any ideas on how to drop the tips a bit? I am worried they are too close to the trim (smelled a bit of burning plastic when I got out and looked at it).
BTW I love the sound!!

Don't think there is a way to move it down but you can move it back producing similar results. Loosen the sliding joints, push the rear portion of the system toward the back and tighten. At least an inch of play. Because of the shape of the tips, this will increase the distance to plastic.

Yes, the sound rocks.

You can move it back as mentioned. You can also drop it down. I did mine.
You need to carefully bend the hangin rods up.
I used 2 ppe wrenches. One to hold the bar steady just above the attachment point at the muffler and one at the end of the rod to flex it up slightly.
I measured across the tips of the rods. Moving them 1/2" closer together total, gave me a decent drop.

I did it by hand but you could use something else.
I don't like the look of the tips sticking out.

I thought about doing that. I'm not sure I want to hassle with trying to hang it from all 4 hangers again.

I can appreciate that. Hanging that back section by yourself is a PITA.

Truth! I thought I was pretty strong but holding that sucker up was brutal!

Ted,
I got it! Thank you.
