I emailed them to ask them about availability in the US and cost, here is what I got back today.

Dear Mr. Perez,

Thank you for your inquiry.

The cost of the HARTGE Mini conversion (147 kW / 200 hp) is 1250.00 EUR (excluding shipment) and is only possible with usage of 98 octane.

To have this conversion installed you would have to find a BMW dealer, who can do the modification of the ECU (special 'down- and upload' cable required).

Alternatively you can send us the ECU (free of charge). We modify your ECU with our car, if available, and send the new pulley and the tuned ECU to your BMW dealer for installation.

The easiest way by far is to have the conversion done at our premises.

There is a possibility that there will be a dealer in the USA, who will offer our conversion in the near future (Please check in a couple of months).

If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact our technical dept. on Tel. +49 6835 5060.

Kind regards

HERBERT HARTGE GmbH & Co. KG

Any gas experts out there know if 93 octane is really THAT different from 98?? The price seems pretty good, about $1300. It's cheaper than the TMS chip/pulley thats for sure that one comes in at $1700. I guess the wait is on to see what Helix wants to charge for their pulley.

Aren't the octane ratings different in Europe than they are here? I think I recall seeing a discussion about this on a thread over on MINI2.

Exactly...no need to run race gas for 200hp, I'll stick with 162 and paying $1.50/gal for gas...lol

I'm gonna email them and make sure you can't run it on 93.

Yeah mwbmini,

I thought I recalled reading somewhere, maybe it was MINI2 that 98 over there wasn't too different from 93 here...but hey, who knows if they were just spewing it without any knowledge, or if they actually knew.. Anyways, I don't know either way, so I'm just sitting in the dark.

yup.. heres a quote from a thread over there...
"From what I researched, RON ratings are 4-5 points higher than the North American Octane Rating {(RON+MON)/2}. "

Thanks for the link 2minis. Looks like maybe we would be able to get away with 93 octane then. I'm still gonna wait to see what the other companies come up with.

Just got off the phone with my hotty at Cincinnati MINI and she says that the WORKS package is going to be available as a dealer installed option for around $3000. She also stated that is was going to be 6 months to a Year.
