Broken Axle

This evening at the drag strip I broke one of my CV joints or some piece on my left front axle. I have ran over 80 times in this car and know that there are some people out there, with a lot more power then I, that haven't broken these.

Has anyone else had this happen? I haven't heard of it being a problem, especially at my state of tune. Are the MINI axles this weak?

Oh by the way best time of the night was a 9.2 @79mph.

i broke mine about a month or so ago, driver side outer CV. it was fully warranteed, although you were racing it, so the waranty doesnt cover it.

I voided that a very long time ago. I think within the first 3 weeks I owned it. Autocross, Drag racing, and track days will do that.

i do 15-20 track days a year since i got my car. my warrenty is still good. just this past week i got yet another set of rotors and pads under warrenty. some how my pads where cracked and my rotors were all blued out and warped. i record all my track days and the people at the dealer love to see them when i come in. we play them on the big plasma in the dealership. oh, i've had an axle replaced too. lets see and a water pump an entire wiring harness lots of rotors and pads master cylinder. then all the other starndard replacements under warrenty.

As a former "partner" in a drag car I know one thing, if you race, you're going to break. It's just a matter of time, even running stock. Don't blame it on the manufacturer, unless they put a section in the owner's manual on "how to" drag your MINI.
