Hi, I just came across this site (http://www.turbo-kits.com/mini_turbo_kits.html)today, thought it was interesting and I could share with you guys. Maybe this is old information, but what the heck right?

Interesting...they dont have any pics of it installed in a cooper. And the pic shown is the same pic for the integra turbo kit. Looks like they're selling a do it yourself type kit. Sure it comes with a turbo, piping, intercooler etc but has this company done any R&D work? Theres more to it then slapping on a turbo and calling it a kit.

I wouldn't trust that kit.

With a prodcut as big as a turbo, you think you would have heard a bit about it on these pages? sounds a bit fishy to me

I received an email about the kit I did not get any pics but here is what I found out

The intercooler is made to fit behind the stock bumper without any mods,
nice clean fit

The pressure drop is only about .5 PSI as the intercooler is perfectly sized
for the application

The intercooler is very efficient again as it is sized perfectly for the
application

The Boost Response is almost immediate, you will have full boost by about
2500 RPMs

for the price this sounds like a good deal. I would worry about the tranny holding up under abuse. I don't beleive the cluth to be an issue though. This I think would be an awsome kit with room to grow based on internal mods.

since there's no intake manifold pictured, I'm assuming the stock Cooper plastic manifold can handle the pressure?

Still no install info on this kit? I bought a base cooper because I figured one of these would be available. I've looked into the kit myself, and the supposed HP gain is better than a stock SC for less $$. Concern is that the stock 1.6 doesn't have the upgraded head, cam, intake etc. to hold up to the increased pressures. Any comments? Suggestions?

I have been following this kit and as far as I can tell there is not a single mini in the world that has been upgraded with it. Has anyone seen or heard of this kit on a mini, or for that matter seen the actual parts even. BTW it is listed cheaper at http://www.coximport.com/turbo-specialties/apps.html

Any news on this kit for this month?

Just checking in...I've looked at this kit over and over. Everyone seems "dodgy" when i inquire about it. I mean, the superior kit for $1600, even if it's only near 150hp at the crank when I'm done, it's great! 35hp isn't that easy to come by on these modern cars. If I need to add alky injection or something due to lack of intercooling, no biggie. It's my wife's car...but when we've got 4 people in it with the A/C on, we barely make it up the hill to our house!!! I drove the "S" before buying and at the time couldn't justify the price difference for what we were going to use the car for (plus I was worried about the longevity of the SC) but now I need a little bump in HP (still don't need an "S" and we love the car we have). The car will never be raced or abused...not worried about trans or clutch since most often the turbo will only come heavily into play once the car is already moving (passing, hauling groceries up the hill, etc). I've got other cars to do burnouts in

M7 was working on a turbo kit and had it installed in a couple of MCs.

Here's a link the that discussion. I was wanting it at the time and was disappointed that it didn't pan out.

The picture in the first post is not for a mini.

If you click the link you'll see what is probably the real thing. Notice the parts list doesn't include an intercooler. This thing is super cheap looking. Even if you're going low-budget you could do much better for less money.

BTW, why not just continue the discussion in this thread:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=43996

I'd bet that's where you first saw it mentioned.
