Drivetrain Why these brands?
Why these brands?
Ok stupid question but:
In respect of modding the mini for any performance / suspension parts we have number of brands including:
Alta, M7, H-Sport, Koni, Helix, etc etc etc!
I am just wondering why these brands of products for our minis are op'ted over others on the market for example:
HKS, Blitz, Apexi etc etc.
Cheers

Alta, M-7, H-Sport, tried/tested/proven
Blitz, Apexi, etc Who
Maybe if they came on as a sponsor and became known/proven we would find they may be as good/better and buy their stuff.
Right now we have sponsors that get an item, put it on their MINI and try and run it in the ground. If it stands up they sell it.
(Alright I'm patial
) but check out Randy Webb's site and you will see why I buy from him.
Look at M-7's site same thing also Moss MINI great stuff.

well those companies ARE known/proven just not in the mini realm. As far as i know, they havent made parts for the MINI which is why you dont see people buying mini parts from them. Those companies tend to go to BIG aftermarket tunning markets....which the MINI tuning market is not. Maybe some day when used MINIs are more available and cheaper, the number of people interested in tuning will grow and those companies will take note. For now Alta, M7, and Randy Webb should be good enough....they have lots of amazing parts for us

You will find a mix of upgrades that are FOR the MINI designed by brands that are commonplace and some that are not.
The MINI isn't a big target market for upgrades for the likes of HKS, Blitz, Apexi and others. When shopping you won't find much that will fit the MINI nor were designed for the MINI. Some creative souls will find a way to modify parts and fit them into the MINI.
When you look at NAM sponsors you will many are set up for selling MINI upgrade parts that have been designed with the MINI in mind. Many upgrades are not cheap mostly because of this niche market. Websites are often helpful with pictures and descriptions.
You will find some vendors typically sell quality stuff, give some vendors a call and discuss your options, ask questions and see what you think. If you feel they are helpful and thoughtful then keep them in mind as a possible source for your business.

Monkey see... monkey do!
It's easy........they actively support and target the Mini market in products/thoughts, words and deeds........from my experience all good people with Minis on the brain.

Even if the monkey wanted to be independent, what parts would he buy from those companies? The only thing can think of is that HKS offers an expensive air intake for the MC (not MCS) and its only available in england. I think the monkies are all "stuck" going one route in this case
