I've used the NAPA 060535 belt which is 54 1/8 long with my 19 pulley for 2 years now with no issues (this is what Helix installs with 19 pulley).

Gatorback 4060537 is supposed to be 53.75 or 53.5" long-- but it's actually longer than the NAPA 060535. Friend installed the Gatorback and there were no holes showing on rod with the 19 pulley. He took it off and installed NAPA and one hole showing as usual.
Going to enchange Gatorbacks & try the next size smaller which they tell me is 4060530 which is about 1/2 " shorter. Wonder if NAPA & goodyear measure belts differently. More later after exchange.

My results were different. I had most of one hole showing after the Gatorback 537 install; it took about 2000 miles to eclipse the hole. It hasn’t moved too much in the last 5000 plus.

Ive snapped a Gatorback after about 8000kms (track only MCS). Really good for track cars, but do replace earlier than others if used on track....its worth it in the end!

p.s. thanks for the product code!

Bringing this old thread back to life. I got a Napa 4060539 for my 19% pulley. Does anyone know if this is ok? It seems that everyone here is using the 4060537 or 4060535. My belt seems to have irregular wear after 2000 miles. Any suggestions?

I just changed from the Napa belt to the Goodyear Gaterback after having 30,000 on the Napa belt.

The belt had a little cracking-not bad, but to be safe....

I'm running the Goodyear Gaterback 4060537 with a 15% pulley. With 2000 miles so far, I'm happy!!

glassintrepid: Helix uses the NAPA (Gates) belt 06 0535 which is 54 1/8" long with the 19 pulley. I've used this with my 19 pulley for 18 months with lots of track days, replaced after a year with some slight chaffing on side of belt. I replace belt every 6-9 months if i'm doing many track days.

spillman, if your tracking a 19% pulley your engine will not last long.....

if you track your car always carry a spare belt or two. more importantly get yourself a pulley tensioner tool. travel with these two items every time you go to the track. i say this for a reason. i've blown three belts at the track. my shop tells me not to run the gatorbacks but only belts without the cross hatching like on the gatorbacks. surface area is very important on a belt and these grooves reduce surface area. if you want all the boost you paid for run as much belt over that tiny pulley as you can.

Gatorback belt

I just received my belt for 15% (part 4060537) and the grip looks incredible!

NAPA belt and Gatorback belt:

I'm getting it installed on Monday, and will post a little review after. My currrent belt (NAPA) is slipping a bit now, and I can see it on my boost gauge... I'm sure the extra grip from the Gatorback belt will help a lot!

I got it from SummitRacing.com for 15$us and it took less than 4 days to get it. Very good service, as usual!

I got the Gatorback belt installed this morning.

It sure grips a lot better, but my old belt was used a lot and was slipping too. There was a complete thread that was missing (u know, the 6 lines that make contact with the pulleys...) and it was cracked at many places.

The noise the Gatorback belt makes is some kind of annoying at first, but after a couple of miles, I could barely hear it, and it sounds a bit like the S/C whine, so not a ploblem anymore!

The garage I got to didn't have the special tool to retain the belt tensioner but figured a was to hold it in place. Very nice guy, since it took him more than 2 hours with that little problem, and he charged me 25$ for the whole job!

make sure you check that missing rib on your new belt. i had an issue with that myself. it was due to a bad tensioner pulley. it was sending the belt to the S/C pulley off track one rib.

just a learning experience for me.

Thanks for the tip.

We (technician and me) looked at the belt while the engine was idling and revving at 3500rpm and everything seems fine. The old belt was there for a long time, and had a bit of abuse.

Yes that seems odd to me as well.
Though I know the tensioner does take up quite a bit of slack.

Well, if they are using the stock belt on a 19% pulley, the tensioner is at the extreme end of its adjustment range.... Sounds like a thrown belt waiting to happen....

Besides, the sound of the Gatorback replacement belt is a trip....

Yup, you realy have to love the sound. People ask " Did you put a blower in there? "

The sound is an absolute trip. The sound alone must add at least 15 hp in intimidation factor.

A 15% Pulley Size Belt????

Funny...this entire thread seems to skirt the issue about what size gatorback people are using with the 15% pulley...I think one said the 53.75" and the rest keep referring to their 17-19% pulleys...DOES ANYONE KNOW FOR SURE?? AGAIN THE QUESTION!!!

I just installed my Gatorback from Summit last night. I didn't notice any more noise that the original. I noticed that the groves across the belt were diagonal and not straight might be a design change (quieter?). I will check the part number and post later. Using 15% pulley.

Just a little INFO bump.

OEM MCS belt length = 1388 mm
OEM JCW belt length = 1374 mm
Goodyear Gatorback 4060537 = 1365 mm

I chose to go with the Napa belt a couple of months ago (15% pulley adds a lot)....so far so good. Sure makes the SC whine louder at higher revs!

I am also in Reno and have not seen your MCS yet....My 04/ Wh on Wh will be staying inside more and more as the weather aand rocks) get worse! Right now...weather is perfect for the mini!...Later on the Uglymobile comes out (05 Honda Element)
Regards
Jeff
