I have installed essentially all the popular air intakes systems to date that's available for the Mini. Beginning with stock, I switched to Rogue/Madness, Alta CAI, Andy's HAI and finally, M7's AGS. My impression is that the AGS has significant advantages in the higher rpm's. The incredible sound is just a bonus. I will have my Mini dynoes this summer but NOT for this one single componant. For those of you who have met me and seen Msfitoy in person at the Dragon, you know I'm not in this for the fad. So take my impression for what that's worth

Over the last few hours I've read through all of the AGS and other intake threads I can find on this site including the entire HAI thread. With all the bitching and moaning from certain parties regarding the lack of dyno runs for an AGS-equipped versus stock-only MCS I thought that surely there must be published runs for an HAI-equipped versus stock-only MCS. You know - one where someone took a stock MCS, did horsepower / torque runs, then installed the HAI and repeated the runs and then slapped the two results together onto one graph. But I have been unable to find this information.

Granted, I may have missed the chart if one exists. There are over 500 posts in the HAI thread. I did see a chart showing dyno runs for an Alta intake versus a HAI intake wherein the Alta outperformed the HAI but I saw no other horsepower and torque graphs for the HAI. It is interesting to me that the one graph I did see was published some 9 months after the HAI was first discussed and was not produced by the creators of the HAI (macncheese and Andy) but by someone else. I'm not clear whether the tested car was modified in other ways or was otherwise stock.

Am I missing something here? Or should most of the posts whining for dyno numbers on the AGS be written in green text to reflect their envious nature?

Sid,

After seeing MSFITOY and meeting you I totally trust your judgement. Thanks for the PMs.

I put an Alta on yesterday and I 'm not sure it out performs the Dinan. It is louder but the Dinan seems to keep more down low and winds up faster the Alta seems to have more top end.

I just switched from the Dinan to the Alta a few weeks ago and I'm ready to go back. Unfortunately, I sold my Dinan! I might go with the JC Works filter next - it appears to be similar to the Dinan in design.

My ECU apparently needed time to get used to the ALTA because even without the hose it is now running very strong.

The Alta hose and IC go on tommorrow

more later

Bob...have you reset your ECU since the Alta install?
