Cryo System

anybody installed a cryo system on MCS with 15% pulley
any gains?
any disadvantages?
any info?
tried searching for a thread on this but turned up a blank
just saw the SPI go from 250 HP to 360 hp
or close to that with the cryo system
this is a lot safer than Nitrous not as much gains
but looks like something that could be made relatively easily without sheeding out 5 or 6 hundred quid

don't waste the money on a brand name system...I don't have a pulley conversion, but the concept of the cryogenic cooling system is pretty basic and will work the same way regardless of the psi your supercharger is putting out. the CO2 is basically sprayed over the intercooler to greatly reduce the intake temperatures. There is absolutely no relationship between this and nitrous, and this is not injected into the engine. I passed on spending 2 or 300 dollars on a system and built my own. The only parts you really need is a remote co2 tank hook-up, which can be bought at any paintball store, and a nitrous purge valve off of e-bay or something(just an easy place to get a high pressure soleniod valve). I didn't want a massive tank taking up my whole trunk, so I use a 20 ounce paintball tank that fits up in my passenger footbox.(wouldn't see it unless you looked for it) the only other thing you need is a button to hook up to the purge valve(radio shack), some piping(probably comes with the purge valve), and then connect the piping from the purge valve to a bar or something that will diffuse the spray over the entire intercooler. It sounds confusing but it only took me an hour to make it. This will perform the same task as the 300 dollar kits, except you will need to refill tanks more often if you use smaller ones like i did. The convenient thing is that nirous and paintball plumbing uses the same fittings...so it all goes together smooth. If you want a better explaination let me know... but i can feel the difference when i use it.

I had one on my WRX and ran nitrous instead of C02 because I could
not find a local gas/fire extinguisher re-charge place that was
open other than 9-5 Mon-Fri.

With a 10lbs bottle, it would only last about 4-5min tops and
typically you need to cool the intercooler a good 20sec prior to
your run and throughout your run another 10-15 sec so your tank
will be empty very quickly.

i could tell it's working, but only marginal gain... it can get pretty
expensive real fast if you can't find a local C02 recharge place that
have adapters to fill the nitrous tank. Most paintball gun places do
not have the fitting for the automotive bottles. (C02 bottle and
Nitrous bottles are the same)

I only got the kit because the rex's intercooler would heat soat
so quickly on the streets. only used it on hot days when really
necessary.
