It is still available on request. We have limited sales as we want properly qualified people to install and tune the kit. If you are interested, PLEASE let me know!

Can I buy the spacer bushings for the rear control arms separately of the control arms? What would the price be for a set of 8 of them for the lower arms?

CAI for R53 Manual versus Automatic

Hi,

I know that the intake hose design is different on the Alta CAI for an R53 manual versus an automatic. What about the intake box itself? Does the same box fit both manual and automatic MINIs?

Thanks.

The different weights of the cars dictate a spring rate difference. (Albeit slight.) They can be interchanged in most cases if you are looking at used units.

Hope that helps! Please let me know how I can help in anyway further!

Hello Alta,

Have you guys done dyno comparisons between the factory JCW/GP pulley and a 15% pulley?

Thank you

Thanks for asking. Other than testing OEM JCW / GP and Cooper S with 15%, no.

But the gains from 15% ALTA vs. 14% JCW /GP aren't going to be dramatic.

Let me know if you have a specific concern or more info on what you are up to so I can help further!

with the msd coilpack, the bolts are different than stock? The stock one have a collar...temporarily I've popped them out and are using the stock ones. Are the MSD's suppose to have different bolts?

Thanks for asking! ALL of our Ignition upgrade kits and just MSD boxes sent from ALTA include new hardware so you don't have to modify the box or the OEM bolts. If your kit for some reason didn't include it, simply e-mail me adam.taft@altaperformance.com with the original inv# and I will have the bolts sent out to you ASAP!

Thanks for asking!

Hi Adam, wondering if you guys can source a smaller Wilwood BBK to fit under 15" wheels? (Basically the 11.75" rotor with the dust-booted calipers?) The reason I ask is because the local shop here in Vancouver is the direct dealer for Alta and no one else locally really deals with Wilwood BBKs for Minis.

Thanks!

Sway Bar or End Link Chatter?

Alta Folks,

Great porducts, great support. My MCS is so much more fun because of you!

In the recent past I upgraded to your 22mm Sway Bar with End Links. I am okay with a bit of noise with Modifications as it is the nature of such items as they exceed the intended 'comfort' engineering. With that having been said, it seems to me that there is an excessive loudness in chatter from my MCS's back end now.

I consider myself a rather meticulous individual. In fact I remain gainfully employed because I am. Regardless I am inclined to think that perhaps I have failed in my install of theses items rather than equipment fault.

I checked and re-checked every component that was touched for the installs and am baffled at what's going on. Furthermore, I can say that navigating these forums proves to be a time consuming and numbing experience as no one ever states a specific topic and never stay on topic making finding an answer rather difficult.

Is this chatter normal? If so, what is the typical accepted db level of chatter from this type of modification from inside/outside of the vehicle? Are there known issues, fixes, or installation errors that I can do or check that will put my mind at ease?

Thank you for your time and energy!

V/R
Sam

Hey Sam,

Thanks for asking and I totally understand. In my opinion NO NOISE is the only acceptable sound level from those two mods.

Couple things to check:

1) be sure you used ALL of the grease on the rear bar. If it has been sometime, it might be time for a bit more. (PM me and I can snail mail some to you. Include your inv# please.)

2) Check that the endlinks are installed properly. It is possible to get one end the wrong way and it can then clunk, clink etc.

3) Send me a couple pics of the endlinks installed as well as the sway bar and I can point out anything that is obivously out of whack.

I am sure we can get things taken care of you to be 100% happy. Thanks again for choosing ALTA Performance!
