Who has a boost pressure gauge in their MCS, and who has checked the effect of their mods on boost? Give before and after peak numbers, if you've got 'em.

Thanks PerfPow

Don't have a guage, but I was getting 11.5 lbs boost on my baseline runs on the dyno.

Rogue, Intake drilled box, duct-tape.

Just short of 15Lbs (peak recorded) 38F ambient.

Wow, 15 psi is great. My stock Cooper S is only around 11.5 psi. Is that what yours was stock?

Thanks, PerfPow

I'm a bit skeptical about boost claims greater than 12.5 psi without a pulley change; there have been quite a few reports on the mini2 forum, but no-one has reported more than 12.5- except Helix who has the P&D pulley and is getting 14.9psi.

Wow! That's only with those mods? Any idea what the boost was like pre-mod?

TIA,

Jeff

Who sells the pulley? How do I contact them? I haven't seen the pulley kit for sale, I'd only heard about it. I can't get past 11.5 psi in any gear or at any speed, regardless of barometer or temperature. I'd like to see what happens to the horsepower and boost with a good exhaust, a cold air intake, the supercharger pulley and a good remapping.
Anybody do all of this yet?

I had to revive this one. I'm still interested in how much boost everyone's got, especially those with pulleys now. Do the one-piece and three-piece pulleys come in the same diameter? And who was coming out with the tool to remove the pulley without pulling the supercharger out? I hate to be lazy, but I a can wait. If I change a few of these next week and then RDR or Helix comes out with something, I'll be kicking myself for not being patient. I have three guys chomping at the bit. If you've got a boost gauge chime in!

I'm getting 17.2 psi, with the pulley, 15% style, self installed.

jlm (john, right?)
Did you have more than 12 psi before changing the pulley? Usually people seem to say there are 3-4psi to be gained from the 15% under pulley. You seem to have gotten 5+. What gives?

read the other posts. I got 13 at 7200 when I had the evotech chip, now I'm getting 17.2 at 6800; its about 4.5-5psi gain. check out the Helix/P&D thread on mini2, performance section; tons of info.

Here's the boost levels in my car and in jlm's car, as read through the MINI's diagnostic system:

Thanks Andy and jlm. I'll get a pulley on mine in the next couple of weeks. It looks more like a 6 psi gain at peak pressure and I see a nice fat 12 psi as early 4000 rpm. Nice. Looks like Andy has some kind of ecu mod and jlm is stock. But jlm's ecomes up on boost a tad earlier and harder, too. What else do you guys each have on you cars. Throttles, headers...?

Thanks,

my car has stock ecu, Rogue intake, Supersprint header (stock cat), Rogue twin exhaust, 15% pulley. Today I measured 16+ psi with my new 30psi boost gauge; I was pegging the old 15psi gauge.

Thats funny you guys are getting Boost levels alot higher than i did when i was in stock fourm,i only got about 9 PSI at full rev's. With the BMP intake i got 9 1/2 - 10 PSi depending on the air. I have Now recently done the 15% pulley, Maina header, Magnaflow, Air Box Mod, and port matched everthing when i had it apart, and my best reading after all that is 15PSi

both Andy and I are running with the P&D pulley which is a 15% reduction, more or less. I'll measure both stock and the "15%" and report back. It is possible not all 15% pulleys are exactly the same size.

It would be great to see a random sampling of production cars untouched to see the boost variances. It's difficult for me to imagine more than a few tenths PSI deviance among the vast majority of MCS's (think Bell-Curve).

Cheers,
Ryan

some numbers:

stock pulley: 2.590" dia; 85% of stock=2.201"
P&D pulley: 2.200"

I just did the measurements; looks like P&D is right on at 15%

Thanks again jlm,
I use an Autometer vacuum/boost gauge (it starts at minus 30in/hg and goes up to 20psi). It's right in the range we need and has a 'live needle'. I don't like boost gauges that start at zero and have their needles sitting on a peg at the zero. I prefer a 'live needle' where the engine is never pegged and always reading vacuum or boost. If a gauge has a zero peg, and you removed it where would the needle go? Would you still belive the reading? The live needle finds zero when the engine is turned off. The zero has a range to accommodate barometric changes, but you learn to check where it is before you start the engine each time. It duals as a crude barometer! Check your boost AND predict the weather!

Don't be alarmed. The engine is obviously idling (in vacuum) and there is no apparent oil pressure. The sender wasn't mounted yet, I wanted to wait until the next oil change. I thought I better let you observant guys/(girls) know before you said something. By the way, oil pressure is usually between 50 psi and 70 psi on a warm engine. Idle oil pressure is lower, of course, 20-25 psi.

Cool guage mount perfpow Why do you also have a water temp, do you have the Nav system?

Motor-on,
